I focus on working with adults (18+) struggling with life transitions, personal identity, setting healthy boundaries, relationship pain, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and spiritual growth.
I love this work. It is inspiring to work with clients as they meet adversities and challenges with honesty-- even in the face of fear and doubt. I can help you find light for the path. You are not alone in your challenge and effort toward progress. I support adults healing from fear, anger, transition, spiritual despair, feelings of stagnation and purposelessness, grief, anxiety, and depression. There is peace to be found. I can help you explore your hope for change in a safe and confidential environment. Together we will compassionately bring affirmation, clarity, and empowerment to your life.

Other areas of focus include chronic illness, medical trauma, and managing grief and isolation.
Being a person can be hard. Living a life that best suits you as an individual is a work in progress. Along the way, there are undoubtedly challenges. Sometimes, our experiences leave us confused, overwhelmed, and in need of some support. As a therapist, my role is to help understand where you’ve been, where you’d like to go, and help you get there. It’s possible to move from getting by to feeling you have agency over your own life and choices. I specialize in working with challenging life events such as trauma, major life changes, relationship distress, and chronic illnesses. I also work with C-PTSD and Narcissistic Abuse recovery.

It might mean learning to set boundaries, working through a loss, or life transition, or helping you change a pattern of behavior that has kept you stuck.
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, or grief that affects your day-to-day life, relationships, your ability to function, or your work? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or frustrated by just getting through the day? Are you hoping life could be better? Now more than ever, people feel anxious and overwhelmed about managing their lives. It shouldn’t be so hard to live a better life, there is hope and answers.

In addition to relationship issues, I treat children, teens, and adults struggling with Domestic Violence, Death & Dying (self or other), Trauma, Parenting and Sexuality (particularly trauma, compulsivity or addiction).
My primary focus in therapy – with individuals, couples or families – is to support and facilitate my clients in their journey to a deeper understanding and awareness of themselves. This goal is best achieved, I believe, by encouraging self-acceptance and insight, and by forming with each client a safe and nonjudgmental relationship. It is within this alliance that, together, we can explore, understand, and begin to gently dismantle the obstacles and unproductive patterns of coping that, although once useful in dealing with painful life events or childhood relationships, may now be keeping them from enjoying a more fulfilling life.

Hi, I am so glad you took a moment to read my profile. I would love to have a chance to get to know you. I am a counselor who understands the scary task of finding a counselor and I am someone who has sat on the other side of the couch. No one should travel their mental health journey alone.

I believe that we all have the potential to feel and live better, even if life circumstances are challenging. Many people find it difficult to feel confident and self assured, have peaceful, fulfilling relationships, navigate the demands of family, work, and home, and also focus on nourishing self care. These challenges are interconnected and are related to how we have developed our sense of self in the context of our family's expectations, our experiences, societal demands, cultural assumptions, and media influence. It's necessary to learn new ways to live our best lives in these particular circumstances. You are not alone.

My aspiration is to attract the couples that I can help the most to my practice of Imago Relationship Therapy. These may be couples who are in a basically sound relationship that they would like to deepen and invigorate, couples who are stuck in unfulfilling patterns that they would like to transform, and couples who are wondering whether it is too late to recover the feelings of closeness and vitality that they once had. What all of these couples share is a mutual willingness and perseverance to do the work required, and to put in the time needed, to discover the full potential in their relationships.

Life is full, complicated, amazing and sometimes we get a curve ball thrown our way. Though each of us possess the tools and wisdom of healing, it is during those curve balls that we need someone to point out our strength and resilience. As a counselor, I am that someone with a bag of tools to help. You decide where we go, what you want out of counseling, and choose what tools you will use. Those times may come from parenting, substance use, hurting those we love, burn out, anxiety, transition, the world around us, not being able to be who we fully are, and questioning life.

I am passionate about helping women navigate major life transitions such as getting married, entering motherhood, changing careers, moving, or processing the ending of a relationship. It is easy to lose ourselves when taking on a new role and I love helping women reconnect with who they truly are and find joy again. In addition to treatment for anxiety, depression, and life transitions, I offer the unique focus of career counseling. I really enjoy helping others find true fulfillment in their vocations, as I have found that many mental health and relationship challenges often stem from an unhealthy work life.

People often enter therapy during times of emotional pain, uncertainty or at a time when they are seeking more meaning in their lives. Each person has within them a powerful impulse toward growth and healing. I trust that impulse and trust the therapeutic relationship to reveal your strengths, wisdom, and the next steps to your growth and healing. There is something of value in even the most difficult circumstances. When these circumstances are approached with an openness to learning, major transformations can take place. I find that the willingness to look inside yourself is a key factor in your healing.

Life can present challenges, some we live with every day, and others seem to come out of nowhere. Maybe life doesn't follow along a path we've spent years creating and working toward. The business of living can begin to feel like a grind, and simple tasks may create exhaustion, fear, and uncertainty. Unresolved and painful childhood memories seem to revisit out of nowhere, and even though you've worked and wished, or prayed about the pain, the pain lingers. We often resign ourselves to perceiving life as a chore instead of a joyful experience, which can lead to a lack of fulfillment and even chronic illness.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
