Finding the right therapist is sometimes difficult. Therapy starts with finding someone who matches your personality and developing a relationship with an individual that you can trust. I believe in learning about who you are, the complete picture, and helping you define and achieve the goals that are important to you. No judgment, just a safe place to work through things you would otherwise bottle up. I will challenge you to feel things, learn to choose better paths even when normally you might choose the same old thing that makes you feel stuck.

Therapy can feel like a scary step to take. Even more it can be a struggle to just share one's needs/stories. Which is why Diego and I work with each of our Clients in making that fear go away and assisting everyone in feeling comfortable and at ease. One of the first priorities I focus on is working with that fear, that uncomfortable feeling--It Gets Better. Diego is an amazing asset to this team as he will provide comfort to those who experience anxiety during therapy. He can provide decompression for those working through trauma or those experiencing sensory challenges.

I believe that therapy is for everyone! So often we minimize our struggles by comparing them to those faced by others when we all deserve the opportunity to work through our challenges so we can live the best version of our own lives. I work hard to provide a safe, judgement free atmosphere that promotes healing and personal growth. Life is unpredictable and having someone to help us rise though the hard parts can make all the difference in achieving the wellness we desire.

While I specialize with supporting those diagnosed with autism, I provide supports for anyone from any walk of life, such as trauma, anxiety & depression, even basic transitioning into adulthood.
I empathize for today's teens & adults struggling in this ever-changing world. We are faced with immediate decision-making & strain, which is not fair when we're trying to figure who we are, much less what we want to become as adults. We typically feel lost, confused, and misunderstood when communicating to others our needs and even interests, therefore struggle asking for help and support in and outside our homes, schools, and community. Whereas this seems to be a "young person's issue," many of us adults battle these situations as well, struggling with hopelessness and believing we are alone as a result.

I have personal and professional experience with anxiety, depression, autism/Asperger's disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, and work/stress related concerns.
Are depression, anxiety, stress, or constant worrying becoming a way of life? Your emotions are up and down, memory is not what it used to be, or confused about life. Or perhaps you are a family member of someone with autism or ADHD and need support walking that path. Whether you are dealing with a life change, dealing with a diagnosis, wanting to make a change, or just get some support it's time to call and see how therapy can help. Being engaged in therapy with a therapist you are comfortable with and trust can make all the difference in meeting or not meeting your goals.

A specialty of mine is working with individuals with ADHD and Autism.
Whether you are visiting this site for your child or yourself, I'm glad you are here. In life, we all face challenges that can feel like a heavy burden to carry. Counseling may look different for children, teens, and adults however the goals are often the same. Reduce distress, cope more effectively, and find more happiness in life. Each person's journey to wellness is different, so I meet each client where they are at providing support and validation. Counseling is a great place to work on understanding yourself, others, and gain helpful coping skills.

Hi, I see counseling as a space for acceptance and understanding, designed to promote and nurture change. For some, counseling may involve using the counselor as a sounding board, while for others, it can be a means to overcome life's obstacles. I tailor my support to each individual's needs. I'm an ally to everyone because I love people, and we all deserve kindness and respect.

My passion is helping those dealing with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Stress Management, Depression as well as other life stressors.
I can truly say that I have never met a person that has not gone through difficulties in life, and I probably never will! People experience many life changing events daily and find it hard to cope when they feel they are going through it alone! Having a strong support system to help you navigate through tough times is always a good thing to have, and I would love to be apart of that system to give that support and extra push you need.

Autism Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for autism?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) has come to be considered the standard treatment for children with autism spectrum disorder, and research has confirmed its effectiveness for many children. Therapists trained in ABA techniques work with children (and their parents) on developing social skills, communication and learning abilities, and everyday habits of hygiene and grooming. The clinician will tailor their program to the child’s particular need but the overarching goal will be to help them advance as far as possible toward independence based on their level of symptoms and decrease the need for additional special services. Families should seek a mental health professional specifically trained in ABA, and holding special certification in the technique, who has extensive experience not only with the approach but in using it with children with the same level of symptoms as the child who needs care.

How does ABA work?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) sessions, which typically focus on positive reinforcement, can be intensive, lasting two or more hours several times a week, and continuing for two years or more. Therapists can also be expected to ask parents to take an active role in reinforcing lessons. Research has found that the technique can lead to major improvements that decrease the need for additional special services.

How does treatment for autism work?

Therapy sessions based on Applied Behavior Analysis will likely be frequent, intensive, and highly structured. After a thorough assessment, a therapist will help a child understand and develop skills in a range of areas, including communication, motor skills, social skills, self-care, play, and academic skills, as well as routines of daily living like hygiene. Typically, the therapist will help a child break down the components of a behavior—often referred to as the antecedent (what prompts an action), the behavior, and the consequence(what immediately follows)—and then reward the child at every step, while also asking parents to reinforce the lessons, and the rewards, throughout the day. This core therapy may be supplemented by occupational or speech therapy, and antidepressants, antipsychotics, and anticonvulsants may be prescribed to address specific severe symptoms.

How long does therapy for autism take?

Some people with autism spectrum disorder may be engaged in some level of therapy for many years, but research shows that treatment will be most effective if it is begun early and delivered intensively. When therapy begins by age 3, children tend to be better able to grasp and adopt the skills needed to manage everyday life, including attending school and establishing social relationships. This type of early-intervention treatment regimen is highly structured, typically involving 20 to 40 hours of one-on-one therapy per week, along with additional hours of engagement managed by parents, for a period of two years or more, although the duration of treatment is dependent on the child’s level of symptoms and pace of progress.
