I have a special interest in supporting millenial and gen z females experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or life changes.
Shoutout to YOU! Why? Because just visiting this site means you're taking a step to better yourself or someone important to you. Admitting that you need support in this thing called life isn't an easy thing to do, but the truth is we ALL need support. Right now you're probably experiencing a major life change or simply adjusting to stepping into a new phase in your life. Your anxiety, depression, confusion, etc. due to the life change/adjustment(s) are all REAL. You may not know the root of the issues you're experiencing or how to cope with them; however, therapy can support you in those areas.

If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety from past trauma, trying to get enough sleep, remember meals, and handle work, school, and home tasks can be a real struggle.
Life is exhausting for anxious trauma survivors. Even when you bust your ass to stabilize your life, you spend hours worrying about and planning for an uncertain future. Despite leaving home and finding your people, you still get stuck in painful memories from the past. You expect life to be hard, because, for you, it has been. You long for more ease, connection, and joy. At the very least, you want to sleep better, to take breaks from your responsibilities, and to feel a little better about your body. You’re tired of struggling through your day. You dream of a life that doesn't need constant fixing—a life that lets you truly rest.

My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, self-esteem and providing a space for individuals experiencing loss due to incarceration.
Do you feel like you have to appear to have it all together when inside you are struggling? You may feel lonely and misunderstood. When you look in the mirror you may not recognize the person looking back at you. Going through the motions of everyday life feels exhausting. You’ve been running on autopilot and are headed toward burnout. Relationships may be harder to maintain as well as the relationship with yourself.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
