At Animal-Assisted Therapy of the Triangle, we incorporate animals in therapy when appropriate for the goals of clients. My co-therapists are Beasley (profile picture) and Pepé the axolotl. We have experience working with people of all ages. I am credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), which enables me to diagnose and treat mental health issues, addiction and substance use disorders, and dual-diagnosis cases of both mental health and addiction-related matters.

I am a clinical psychologist. I am available for individual, couples, and family therapy. My preference is to work with adolescents and older clients. I am culturally competent and have had great success working with clients regardless of background or lifestyle orientation. I am also comfortable addressing issues of spirituality, identity formation, and self-actualization.

On the outside things look great, but on the inside you are struggling. Work stress is becoming overwhelming, you feel anxious and depressed, and your relationships are suffering. What used to work is no longer working for you. I am here to help you learn new, more effective ways for life to become more manageable. I have been fortunate to have a previous career in exercise physiology and sought my masters in Social Work when I realized my passion centered on helping people make the changes they desire. I enjoy working with adults, age 18 and older, focusing on anxiety, depression, adjustment to life changes, grief/loss, parenting issues and personality disorders. I have worked with a very diverse population and like to start with what my clients identify as their needs. Though I'm active and make observations and give guidance, I will quickly make it known to you that I want your feedback even if it is different from mine. This includes my work with adolescents and children as i know they are often reluctant with therapy yet want to be heard and this is how i join with them. I work with individuals, couples and families ages 12 and up and from all backgrounds. As a therapist, I work with clients to foster their current strengths and help them build new ones empowering them to deal with life's challenges successfully. I understand the importance of accepting that our unique personalities and experiences make us who we are and I focus on helping clients discover ways to make those strengths work in the context of life (school, work and relationships). I enjoy working with a diverse range of clientele and offer a free initial phone consultation.

As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe, client-centered environment for my clients to explore their feelings and patterns of thinking while setting and working toward their personal goals. I utilize evidenced-based practices including CBT. I also love to incorporate play and art therapy techniques in my practice with children and adolescents. I specialize in helping adults negotiate turning points and transitions. These turning points are the critical experiences making our lives' narratives uniquely ours. I am passionate about helping clients find ways to process their emotions and learns ways to handle everyday stress. I tend to gravitate towards clients dealing with past trauma, depression, anxiety and grief. I want people to feel empowered and realize their current struggles don't define them. I want to bring out the best in my clients and encourage them to not be afraid of their feelings.

House of Hope of North Carolina is a Christian Non-Profit Organization that offers various counseling services, such as individual, couples, family, and group therapy. House of Hope has therapists who can work with all ages, genders, and backgrounds. In addition, we offer a Christian therapeutic residential program for teenage girls 12-17, with a strong emphasis on parent involvement, that offers support to individuals and families who need a higher level of care. We also provide a free Christian group for teens and their caregivers who have experienced sexual trauma.
