Hi! My name is Atosha, I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and I want you to know that - I see you and I want to help! I understand what it feels like to feel overwhelmed while searching for the answers to help your life FEEL and BE better. I know you have aspirations, desires to know and be your best authentic self. You've read books, listened to podcasts, make promises to yourself and - broke them! You know in your heart that you were made for more, but don't know exactly how to make it happen. You're the reason I became a therapist! I would love to come along side you and help you figure it all out.

Therapy should be a safe place to reflect on our most vulnerable thoughts and feelings, even (especially) when they are uncomfortable. I hope to provide just that for clients I get to work with. My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness. My hope is that, together, we can tailor interventions that help you feel empowered to live the life you want to live.

I earned a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. I have significant experience providing clinical services for children, adolescents, adults and families dealing with a wide range of mental health issues. I was a clinician and program supervisor at Wake County Mental Health/Human Services where I developed and managed an innovative treatment program for children and families dealing with sexual abuse. I also provide clinical supervision, consultation and mental health trainings around North Carolina through the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC).

I provide services to individuals, couples, and families in person and through HIPPA-secure tele-therapy. I also integrate clinical counseling and theology: combining research-based psychology with a Christian perspective of human suffering, hope, and redemptive love. I utilize EMDR, Gottman method, ACT and experiential therapy.

I have been fortunate to have a previous career in exercise physiology and sought my masters in Social Work when I realized my passion centered on helping people make the changes they desire. I enjoy working with adults, age 18 and older, focusing on anxiety, depression, adjustment to life changes, grief/loss, parenting issues and personality disorders. I work with individuals, couples and families ages 12 and up and from all backgrounds. As a therapist, I work with clients to foster their current strengths and help them build new ones empowering them to deal with life's challenges successfully. I specialize in helping adults negotiate turning points and transitions. These turning points are the critical experiences making our lives' narratives uniquely ours. Transitions may come in the form of divorce, grief, job loss, health concerns, or parenting status changes. Alternatively, transitions may be signals it is time for a change. My work focuses on making meaning of these transitions and the stressors that often accompany them. Some of my specific areas of practice include work and career issues, relationship concerns, and stress and stress management.
