I am experienced and have served in higher education, disabilities, and autism support for young adults and especially women.
Anxiety and fear are common issues and sometimes become the focus of your everyday life. Healing and joy should be first in your life. Going from survival to living life in a positive way. You can make the difference in your body, mind, and emotions. Through your struggles, you can find hope; pain is just a pathway that sometimes gives your strength and compassion. Once you move through the thoughts, fears, and pain that get in the way, you will have tools to move through your next struggles in life. Using positive and creative therapy solutions that look at your strengths to help you find hope and healing.

Congratulations, you have officially taken the first step in prioritizing your mental health! Therapy can be a vulnerable place, but it is in your vulnerability that you find the biggest strengths within yourself! I aim to offer you a safe space while we work together to improve your mental well-being through processing your emotions, thoughts, and feelings. People often feel that they do not have a place to go that allows them to be completely vulnerable, so let me be that space for you! I have experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, LGBTQIA+ and college students. I also have training in Subtle Yoga.

We talk a lot about what's on our minds, the work our brains are doing, and the moving body as separate parts. But, they are all one unit working together, for better of for worse. Trauma is a good example of these parts working together as one. Our nervous system connects the body/brain/mind and can get stuck working too hard trying to keep us safe. Brainspotting via the eyes, connects with our sub-cortical brains to release trauma held in our whole selves. It gets to the things talking can't get to and reduces unwanted trauma responses. Curious? Come give it a try.

I wholeheartedly believe in the resilience of the human spirit and that each of us are imbued with the desire to achieve, to connect and have peace. Change is usually associated with stress and we are not fond of it; we find comfort in our routine even when that routine is allowing us to feel overwhelmed, underappreciated and at its worst, neglected or abused. Change is what inspires and produces growth. Without growth, we whither and shrink away becoming someone whom we barely recognize. We are life forces and energy that need growth in order to realize our fullest potential

I am a PhD licensed marriage and family therapist with 12 years of experience. I use a systemic approach in understanding relationship challenges. This means, rather than looking at each individual as an island, I account for how individual, family, and cultural factors affect one another. I believe that when we understand these interactions we can better identify meaningful and sustainable solutions to the problems at hand.

I am passionate about helping young women overcome eating disorders/disordered eating, particularly anorexia or orthorexia.
Do you struggle with anorexia, orthorexia, excessive exercise, anxiety, and/or perfectionism? Do you feel stuck in a cycle of rigidity and control, but fear losing control? I know your battle is not really about food or your body image. It's often about something else. Whether or not you're even aware of that something else, you are most likely feeling discouraged and tired of fighting the noise in your head. The good news is you haven't lost hope yet. If you're reading this, you probably want to believe you can experience your life to its fullest with peace and freedom. Food doesn't get to control you anymore.

Change is inevitable in today's world, but what happens when we get stuck? Whether it is unhelpful cycles of communication/interaction with others, difficult relationships, challenging experiences, life transitions, or painful experiences from our family of origin, sometimes knowing how or where to begin can feel overwhelming. Or maybe it seems not worthy of bringing up, feeling unheard or having shame about communicating your wants and needs? Or maybe you just want more satisfaction in your life and relationships. Does this sound familiar? Are you looking for change?

We all have times when we struggle with feelings of being sad, anxious or depressed, grieving over the loss of a loved one, going through a transition in life, having low self-esteem, experiencing relationship problems, or just feeling low or "off." Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
