I use a collective of modalities, however, the foundation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Therapy.
Hello! theI love working with individuals that are ready to be their best versions of themselves. Whether, in a relationship or single. Whether you are a male or female. I work primarily with the women population. The majority of them are wanting to understand who they are for they have been in traumatic relationships (narcissist, manipulative, opportunist). I help one in regaining and changing false mentalities. To more adaptive and practical thinking. It's a process that I love to assist with.

I understand that therapy may be a big step for many and emotions may even be a bit scary. That’s why I make it my responsibility to create a safe and trusting, collaborative environment. I want the people that I work with to feel comfortable sharing their stories while also not shying away from exploring the scary parts as well. I like to approach these issues using acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). This approach highlights compassion and mindfulness to help individuals accept their emotions without judgment, notice and disengage with unhelpful thoughts, and learn to commit to their values by confronting avoidance.

You can expect elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Hey, I am John; but you can call me Jake. Life knows how to mix up its pitches. The person we are today might not be the person we need to be tomorrow, or even want to be. I was blessed to play football collegiately and transitioning from my role as an athlete after school posed identity challenges, and gave me unique insights into redefining oneself. Helping you navigate life changes, and the anxiety that follows are my passions in treatment. Whether career shifts, relationship changes, or just plain old growing up and adulting, we can work to transition with clarity and confidence.

I also use mindfulness to help clients be more in-tune with their emotions and bodily responses to daily stressors, and through acceptance commitment therapy, I help clients embrace and cope with grief.
As a clinician, I enjoy working with clients as young as 4 years old and those well into adulthood. I strongly believe that clients are the experts on themselves; my job is to partner with clients to better understand their needs and help guide them in building skills to help them manage their day-to-day stressors and challenges. I am often sought out to help clients with behavioral and emotional needs, process grief, and address childhood and/or complex trauma.

Healing is the actual act of recreating self-hope & even the application of forgiveness.
Life is so unpredictable and I want to be there for couples, families and individuals to offer tools to navigate through the tough times. I know all too well the importance of utilizing mental health care, we all face struggles. In my years of working with families and children within public schools and in private practice, I have learned forgiveness and healing is possible. Being released of anxiety and depression and past traumas can happen, if you trust the process of mental health. Therapy is not a overnight process, and I am not a miracle worker, but together we can watch the miracle happen. Take the first step, and call me..

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
