Culturally Sensitive Therapists in Durham, NC
I am scheduling clients for October 2024 for in-person in Durham, NC or virtual sessions (in both North Carolina and South Carolina). Are you needing support with navigating and healing from attachment and relational trauma, struggling with family of origin issues and family estrangement, or in the process of exploring your sexuality, identity, and queerness? Then you may find a therapeutic home with me. I also focus on issues that arise in ethical non-monogamy (I have 7 years of personal experience with ENM), boundary and communication work, and affect phobia (fear of feeling your emotions and you need help feeling them).

My passion centers on the ways in which early relationships, life experiences and cultural contexts shape our worldviews and impact our choices, coping and performance. I also focus on the interplay between the mind and the physical body, and the ways we can use this connection to increase well-being and overall functioning. Over the past 15 years I have worked in various academic medical institutions and hospitals (UCLA, CHLA), using research-based interventions to guide individuals (children, youth and adults), couples and families in working towards agency, personal growth, positive change, insight, and adaptation to life events.

My clients want to connect to others but are afraid. They've learned in childhood that those that are supposed to love you don't always treat you well. Yet, their deepest desires are to be seen, heard, and accepted. My clients often carry shame or guilt while also knowing deep down that they have immense strength and worth. They have the desire to move forward and live a fulfilled life, but feel stuck. Does any of this sound or feel familiar? Great news: it doesn't have to be this way! Reach out to me! Together, let’s explore a path forward—a healthy way forward—so that you can thrive. After all, you deserve to thrive.
