We may be a good fit if you struggle with relationship challenges, family of origin, people pleasing, a biting inner critic, self-worth, anxiety, life transitions, or mood management. I work with adult individuals, most of whom are women and/or LGBTQIA+ folx. My therapy style is informed by Internal Family Systems (level one trained), Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (externship trained), and best practices in trauma treatment. Through gentle curiosity and candor, I help untangle harmful patterns, and strengthen habits based on your values.

I use techniques from Internal Family Systems and somatic therapies, in a flexible existential and experiential paradigm.
You're struggling to understand what's wrong, and life feels out of control or meaningless. You tried therapy before but it left you feeling dry. Something still isn't working, and what motivated you before doesn't make sense the way that is used to. Accomplishing success ultimately brings its own problems, and now that you're here, you just can't seem to find the drive that you had before. It's like you're doing everything right, yet nothing is improving. You've read endless articles about mental health, sleep hygiene, and other topics, but still can't quite seem to find the change you're looking for.

I take an eclectic approach to counseling, utilizing interventions from IFS, psychodynamic psychotherapy, somatic therapy, DBT, attachment theory, and others while working with clients through a feminist, person-centered lens.
My hope as a psychotherapist is to build a relationship based on trust, respect, and hopefulness with my clients. I view psychotherapy not only as a way to address symptoms, but as a gateway to more joy, wholeness, and pleasure in our lives.

I believe that every person has the ability to grow, heal and change. As a counselor, I provide a space of nonjudgmental acceptance and authenticity which invites clients to show up exactly as they are and to be valued and supported in all aspects of their identity. I aim to partner with and empower my clients, utilizing the strengths and skills they already possess, to work toward their goals for healing and growth. My counseling orientation is grounded in a family systems approach, though I also draw significantly from attachment theory and person-centered counseling.

I have training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and use an Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach to therapy.
Adulting is hard. No one prepared you for the stress, anxiety, transitions, decisions, and grief that would come along with the freedom of becoming an adult. Whether you're career-focused and struggling to reach the goals you've set for yourself, a tired parent navigating the burden of raising well-adjusted kids, or you feel like the lemonade you've been trying to make with life's lemons is just plain sour, I am confident that with a little help you can access the courage, curiosity, and compassion you already possess to tap into your authentic self and live a life worth celebrating!

Additionally, I draw upon my lived experience with recovery and family systems.
Although you may feel scratched, dented or even shattered at times in your life, you are not broken. Successes and challenges are only part of who you are, and we humans learn by doing, which sometimes means we grow at the rate of pain. If you've experienced trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, confusion, boredom, relationship/communication challenges, or a loss of confidence, I'm here for you. Therapy can help you gain the perspective and skills to be who you want to be.

I am certified in EMDR and training in DBT and IFS.
The most important variable of having a successful experience in therapy is when therapy is provided in a safe, confidential, and comfortable space with a healthy and strong therapeutic alliance between the therapist and the client. It has been my life’s calling and honor to support someone in their journey of emotional healing. My hope is that you experience, maybe for the first time, your true and authentic “self". And to build healthy, loving relationships with others.

My blended approach draws primarily from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
Counseling is such a bold and brave step in the process of healing. I believe that healthy development and growth are not reached by the elimination of pain and challenges, but rather in developing healthy methods of understanding, coping with, and responding to pain. This can be a challenging, but a beautiful process, and I am honored to walk with my clients through it. Most of my training is in working with women and I enjoy working alongside them as they navigate working through trauma, work/life balance, anxiety, boundary issues, guilt/shame, identity issues, life transitions, self-esteem, depression, and/or loss.

Now, I use IFS therapy and mindfulness to help you grow.
Struggling to Find Happiness and Intimacy in Your Romantic Relationship? Tired of Feeling “Less Than” Because of Racial Stereotypes? Find greater peace, success, and happiness with an Asian male therapist who has been there, understands your struggles, and has guided dozens of Asian men like you to happier lives. — Your wife crosses her arms again as she shakes her head. She’s disappointed because you’ve gotten angry and criticized her again. It’s so hard to be vulnerable and share how you feel. In heated moments, you just end up pushing her away. So, you grab your pillow and slink downstairs to toss and turn on the sofa again.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
