I was once a young person sitting in a therapist's office and I found the experience to be stale, impersonal, and hurried. As a direct reaction, I am passionate about creating an environment that is fun, goofy, creative, interactive, and YOU-centered. While you are here, no matter your age or what we are working through, we can play games, read books, and make art. We'll learn somatic techniques; we'll create resources that are tailored to your needs; and we will work together to figure it (whatever "it" is) out.

Life can be hard sometimes. There are moments where we find ourselves feeling conflicted, overwhelmed, stressed, and burnt out. In those times we might need to metaphorically put our bags down and sort through our... "stuff". Do your relationships feel exhausting, scrolling on Tiktok more than usual, or feeling like you can't catch a break? You may not even be able to pinpoint what is even going on, you just feel off. It may be time for you to take stock on what all you've been carrying. Let me help you unpack and reorganize, so you can find some balance in life.

I have been fortunate to have a previous career in exercise physiology and sought my masters in Social Work when I realized my passion centered on helping people make the changes they desire. I enjoy working with adults, age 18 and older, focusing on anxiety, depression, adjustment to life changes, grief/loss, parenting issues and personality disorders. Whether you are in California or North Carolina (licensed in both States), don't hesitate to reach out; the first step is often the hardest! Modalities include Attachment-Based, Client Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Family Systems, Feminist, Grief Therapy, Mindfulness-Based, Person-Centered, Strength-Based and Trauma-Focused.
We all need a place where we can feel safe and validated with our emotions/life transitions. It can be difficult to open-up and talk about life-stressors to a stranger. Sometimes, we can feel unheard or alone, or just need someone who can be a helping, compassionate, and nonjudgmental ear. In therapy, we can mend fractured and fragmented pieces of ourselves that have been damaged by relationships and trauma. Together, we can bring out positive change in our lives; we can challenge negative cognitions and dissonance. Together, we can begin the path of healing. When YOU are ready, I am here to start the therapeutic journey with you!

Working with trauma survivors of all gender identities and womxn struggling with relationships, disordered eating, spirituality and empowerment through a strong feminist and CRT lens are at the heart of my clinical practice.
Cameron has worked with clients all over the US to harness the power of embodiment, mindfulness, authentic spirituality and creativity in their journeys of healing and wellness. Working with Cameron means moving beyond simply sitting and talking through problems to playing with and through them in the body, in the imagination, in nature, in narrative and in real relationship to Self and Others. Many of Cameron's clients identify as survivors of trauma (big T and little t) and partner with her to access greater safety and freedom in their body-minds through creative and somatic-based processes.

My therapeutic style is guided by a trauma-informed lens, rooted in feminist multicultural therapy.
Life and change are hard. You are burdened by all of the expectations around you; work, family, and cultural pressures to act/live your life a certain way. Maybe you feel like you don’t fully belong and you’re stressed. I bet that you’re also having a hard time feeling happy. I help my clients live a more authentic life for themselves while also honoring their values and culture. My goal is to support you in gently peeling back the layers, navigating what life throws your way, and teaching you skills to manage all of the stress.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
