I help individuals safely process their emotions and experiences to learn practical, strength-based coping strategies and techniques for symptom management/reduction.
I specialize in working with adults (18+) who are experiencing anxiety, attachment issues, depression, grief/loss, infertility, midlife transitions, parenthood struggles, and perinatal/postpartum mood disorders. My approach to therapy is always client-focused: I believe the relationship between therapist and client is central to reducing distress, increasing self-compassion/understanding, and improving emotional wellness.

I facilitate an accepting and collaborative environment with a strength-based and internal family systems-informed approach with cognitive-behavioral techniques.
You have already taken the first step by looking into therapy, and I am so glad you're here! Whether this is your first time looking into therapy or you are jumping back in, I would be honored to work with you. Life's obstacles can create a tangled web of emotions: fear, stress, frustration, despair, and more. Whether it's anxiety, depression, trauma, work-life balance, or exploring our identity- sometimes, we need a supportive space to help us navigate these challenges and the emotions that come with them. Therapy provides that safe environment so we can grow from those challenges using evidence-based interventions.

My experience with clients include those who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, postpartum, and life challenges. As one takes the step to come to therapy, it is important to work together to focus on what concerns they may have, where they would like to be, and how to get there. As a therapist, I will work to help give you, the client, the tools needed to meet these goals. Through talk therapy, we work through different techniques and challenges to find what works best for you. Everyone is different - including clients. What works best for you is the direction we go in.

Olivia’s approach through therapy is inviting, playful, collaborative, and strength-based.
Olivia is passionate about working with children and families to better understand family dynamics, and behavioral and emotional issues occurring within the family system. She utilizes play therapy techniques to step into the child’s world and make sense of what your child is feeling. Olivia enjoys working with teens that are finding their path in life by exploring their values, self-worth, and growth. When the path seems winding and unpredictable, she will work with teens to find the coping strategies that work for their journey.

I work from a strength-based, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed perspective and my primary approach to therapy is an integration of person-centered, mindfulness-based, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Welcome to Soul Wellness Services! As a Black Caribbean woman, I'm aware of the social and cultural stigma often associated with mental health in our community. Issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and loss can be challenging to deal with. For Black and Indigenous People of Color, these issues are often compounded by the stress and emotional exhaustion of code-switching, racial trauma, racism, discrimination, and other challenges specific to our community.

While I often lean on attachment- and strength-based modalities, I appreciate that each client is unique and therefore tailor my approach to best fit the needs of each person.
I am passionate about helping clients develop stronger and happier relationships with themselves and their loved ones, as I believe the quality of these dynamics determines the quality of our lives. I enjoy working alongside individuals as we navigate the patterns and events of their past and present in the hopes of creating healthier and more fulfilling futures. I also enjoy working with couples to help them better understand how their individual patterns show up in their relationship in order to deepen the connection with themselves and their partners.

Strength-Based Therapists

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
