I want to support you in being the wonderful human you are in a way that is sustainable and nourishing, and that brings you joy! My work is rooted in the Hakomi Method (a somatic therapy), Expressive arts, and ecotherapy.
I work with people who feel overwhelmed - by relationships, big transitions, life. They want to become more fully aware of and confident in themselves, and long to find freedom from the patterns that hold them back in life. My attachment training and relational approach tends to draw folks who are looking for support around relationships with partners, family, friends, and themselves. Many of them identify as queer, non-monogamous, and/or neurodivergent. They usually share that our work together has helped them to feel more at home in their own skin and more confident in their own strength, beauty, and wisdom.

I believe in the transformative power of therapy and works collaboratively with her clients to navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve their personal goals. I work with couples in crisis, families, children and those in one of life's many transitions. Healing and recovery is possible when you look inside yourself. Start that journey today. Be well!

I am trained through the advanced level in SE ( somatic experiencing).
I am a believer in the human experience and normalizing the suffering that is a part of that experience. I do not take a pathological approach to individuals' mental health. I believe you will suffer within your lifetime and that we can work together to build your capacity for resilience. That being said I understand that some individuals have a chemical imbalance, or may experience psychosis if that is the case we can work together to take the proper steps for your health. Presently I work with children from ages six and up as well as adults.

Have you tried talk therapy but didn’t see the changes you were hoping for? Do you have good insight into your patterns but don’t know how to actually change them? Do you want to improve your mind-body connection? If so, it might be time to try a somatic approach. Somatic psychotherapy helps us find, understand and resolve the root causes of our issues in ways that are often inaccessible through traditional talk therapy. We’ll work together to expand your ability to be with and effectively process bodily sensations, to digest unresolved emotions, and to renew your optimal connection to yourself and others.

I also enjoy integrating somatic & ecological theories.
Change is constant. At times, it leaves us feeling like we’ve disconnected. You may feel stuck, or your body & emotions numb. Maybe you feel drawn to seek a fresh perspective on issues you’ve had with yourself, a partner, friends, or family. At times, we know we need a shift, but it sounds exhausting to go through alone. Many of my clients find that they feel better when they have an ear to listen and affirming space to feel seen and explore. You have the medicine, and i'm happy to be a compassionate witness on your healing journey, please reach out to collaborate with me today!

I utilize psychodrama, somatic experiencing, and other experiential methods in our work together.
I provide individual, couple’s, family, intensive, and group therapy to adults. My clients are seeking relief from their trauma, dysfunctional relationships, shame, addictions, compulsive sexual behavior, disordered eating, grief, and codependency. Typically my clients are over functioning in many areas but cannot pinpoint why they struggle in relationship with others or feel chronically unhappy. Many of my clients identify as Adult Children of Alcoholic and Dysfunctional families or have addiction in their family system.

I love offering what I've learned about the breath and the body to others who have lived in their heads and ignored their somatic experiences.
In our sessions together, I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your experiences, process your emotions, and develop coping skills to navigate the effects of trauma. In my approach, I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness practices, and somatic interventions, to help you heal on a holistic level. The ultimate goal is to empower you to reclaim your sense of safety, agency, and well-being.

Hi friends! I'm Carolyn, a biracial Certified EMDR Therapist in Richmond, VA who specializes in recent, ongoing, and preventative EMDR protocols for somatic-based healing & sustainable symptom relief from anxiety, depression, addiction, stress, burnout, hypersensitivity, relationship drama & ALL traumas.
Trauma responses & beliefs can FEEL permanent when you have the coping skills but LACK the ability to access them. What you need is a more somatic approach to healing memory networks w/ more desirable response patterns learned from what's past, to reflexively improve responses in similar future instances. EMDR does wonders for issues w/ control, self-worth, attachment, identity, performance, and/or hypersensitivity. We’ll demystify how EMDR works as a domino healing effect, prepare you for what to expect, AND give you a taste of its efficiency. If the goal is therapy that works to become PRN, I'm the EMDR Therapist for you.

I Integrate evidenced based therapy, somatic & mindfulness approaches to assist with soothing the nervous system & establishing safety in the body.
Trauma and challenges are something we have all faced at some point in our lives. Everyone tells you to go to therapy and heal but sometimes " healing" doesn't feel all that easy. Sometimes you have no idea where to start but know you need to. Sometimes it feels like falling backwards when you’re trying to move forward. Sometimes it feels like needing support but not knowing how to ask for it. Have these thoughts crossed your mind? I know they have crossed mine. You deserve the peace of mind you are seeking. Are you ready to take that step today?
