In today's society, with the advent of Covid-19 and other life challenges, If we do not take action, we can find ourselves swimming in a pool of negative emotions such as; Fear. Anger. Disgust. Sadness. Rage. Loneliness. Melancholy. Annoyance and many others. If you are experiencing any of these emotions among others, I can help you. I understand that you may be reluctant to reach out to a counselor, but reaching out to a counselor to ensure that you maintain good Mental Health is just as important as reaching out to a medical doctor to maintain good Physical Health.

If you are feeling anxious, stuck, or having trouble adjusting to change you are not alone! Have you wished to feel more peaceful and accomplish things that matter to you? Are you for hoping for change in days ahead? Maybe you are trying to heal from trauma and feel stronger inside or more sure of yourself. You might want to develop or strengthen relationships and not hide from life experiences, but this feels overwhelming right now. If you have always felt a little different, identify as neurodiverse, or experienced emotional abuse or emotional neglect in relationships with parents, bosses, partners, or friends therapy could help.

Do you find yourself weighed down by unhelpful thought patterns? Are you not sleeping well, always feeling exhausted, and having a nagging sense of anxiety? Perhaps you were bullied at school or suffered a serious childhood trauma that still haunts you today. You’ve tried to learn all the self-help techniques and even took medication, but nothing seems to have helped. You may have been successful in your work but feel like you have lost purpose in life.

I am very dedicated to my clients and I assist my clients to the best of my ability to achieve their therapy goals. I also believe therapy is not an extremely long period of time and I encourage my clients to work very diligently to achieve their goals in a reasonable timeframe. I do not believe therapy should be years and years of meeting with a therapist. I do not want a client to get dependent on me as a therapist. I want my clients to reach their goals and be able to gradually exit therapy in the best way possible.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
