The aim of my work is to help you draft and refine the narrative of your life, identify core values and beliefs, and look for ways to apply those values to strengthen your sense of self. Some of these narratives may include experiences of depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship issues. As a therapist, I employ warmth, humor, and softness to create a space where you can identify and bring down the barriers keeping you from who you want to be. As a social worker, I wish to meet you where you are, then walk alongside you down your preferred path, simply helping with forks in the road.

When the "storms of life" come, we long to feel seen and supported. Maybe for you, a relationship isn't going well, or your mental health is weighing you down, or life isn't turning out the way you thought it would. Whatever your "storm" may be, you are not alone and you will find the strength to make it through. If you're in a place where that doesn't quite feel true, I would love to offer that refuge to you in therapy. I value building a genuine relationship with you, in which you can be your authentic self and find healing.

When did things get so hard? And honestly, just saying things are hard makes me feel guilty, because I know others have it harder. I should be grateful, right? But how do I do that when sometimes I feel like I hate everyone? And how can I hate everyone sometimes, but also worry about the state of the world? Plus, me and my significant other are out of sync. I’m worried about our relationship. I know I should talk to someone, or that we should talk to someone, I just don’t know if I even have the energy.

I offer clinical expertise in intensive, focused work with couple relationships, to include restoring emotional safety in the relationship, healing damage from affairs, and other betrayals, rebuilding core friendships, and teaching specific tools to manage conflict.
Is your relationship what you want it to be? Whether you want to strengthen your connection, or you're worn out from frequent fighting, hurt by broken trust, or considering separation or divorce, the wisest first step you can take is to get the right help. As a couples therapy specialist, I help partners gain clarity about themselves, re-establish trust, improve interaction, teach them how to manage conflict, heal from hurt and betrayal, and rebuild connection, friendship and intimacy. Many couples give up too soon, without getting help. But where there is a flicker of love, there is hope!

I have worked with many individuals and couples throughout the years and I know that one of the most frustrating things about the process of getting help, is finding someone that you can connect with while maintaining the focus and drive toward your goals. My ideal client is an overthinker who wants to learn how to effectively process rather than ruminate on their feelings and struggles. If you want to learn how to have a healthier relationship with yourself and others, I would love to be a part of that work with you.

Good psychotherapy requires a "match" between client(s) and therapist and avoids "stretching the client to fit the couch." Finding the right psychotherapist involves both clinical skill and personality match. A good therapist is genuine, warm, and offers a human relationship with active listening, guidance, and good advice. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, what I offer as a clinician is an active style of psychotherapy with a high regard for where you are in your journey, what your goals are, and what things can be pointed out and changed along the path to growth and improved relationships.

Most of us need help, at one time or another in our lives, and asking for help is not always easy. However, it is important to realize our own limitations and allow yourself to feel better. Mental health is a vital part of overall well-being, and its impact on our life should not be underestimated.

Healing and mental wellness can occur through a brave and connected therapeutic relationship.
For over 10 years, I have worked closely with families, adolescents, young adults and elders as they have transition through various stages of life. Life transitions can bring about varying emotions that could impact our mental health and wellness. This could be expressed by depression, anxiety, or feelings that show up in our bodies. Work related stress, medical diagnosis, new educational ventures, traumatic life events, changes in family systems and institutional systems can impact how we connect to ourselves and others. I seek to explore and process these emotions, while providing coping skills, to help you achieve your goals.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
