Are you overwhelmed and in need of clarity? Are your mind and body on high alert from anxiety? Peace and rest are seemingly unattainable, no matter how hard you try? Do you find yourself wondering why the past can’t stay in the past? Does ADHD feel like it is the ever present roadblock that keeps you from obtaining your full potential? Do you long to feel joy and purpose? I want to reassure you that there is hope and a path forward. There is a full life on the other side of trauma, beyond debilitating anxiety and hopelessness, and beyond challenging ADHD symptoms. You’re not alone.

I practice with the belief that that therapy can be a rich and vital exploration into understanding the deepest parts of our selves: the parts we like and the parts we wish to change. We all have unconscious patterns that can get in the way of living the life we want. These patterns can manifest as anxiety, depression, phobias, physical illness or pain, addiction and even rage. These symptoms can affect relationships, work, self esteem, creativity and sexuality. Change is possible when these patterns can be expressed and understood in an open and accepting space.

I have found a purpose which is aimed at serving others by first providing them hope and letting them know they are not alone in whatever their struggle is. All suffering is common to man and there is comfort in this knowledge. Next I aim to provide practical tools and techniques to make changes that move the client towards their own directed goals. I seek to balance all that psychology has to offer a client on any given problem, while also integrating a consistent Christian worldview as we find this healthy balance in day to day living. Always moving and progressing towards improvement and growing in contentment and satisfaction.

Some clients know exactly what is concerning them and others may not know or understand. Let us acknowledge that this is okay. Life may get confusing at times and this is when we need trustworthy individuals to support us.

Are you suffering from traumatic experiences and the negative effects? Would you prefer to resolve the core issue and NOT merely 1) treat symptoms with medications, 2) talk about it for months in therapy, or 3) use willpower to control yourself? Whether the trauma is large or small, old or new, you CAN release it and FULLY recover from the toxic emotions and unhealthy behaviors that you learned from it. Most of my clients find real, lasting improvements with their memories, limiting beliefs, emotional state, and lifestyle habits within a few sessions. If you really want to think, feel, and do better, then I may be able to help you.

New clients welcomed! Feeling seen, heard, and understood can be some of the most empowering feelings we experience in life. On the other hand, feeling lost, misunderstood, disconnected, and overwhelmed can be extremely isolating. Whether this is due to trauma, life transitions, identity, relationships, dysfunctional family dynamics, anxious/depressive thoughts, etc. I know how hard it is to feel alone. Therapy can be a great tool to know yourself fully, work through those isolating experiences and feelings, and ultimately live more authentically.

My primary focus is to help children, parents and adults reframe, rethink, then refresh their views, opinions, and actions. I enjoy taking research based theories and sharing the information in a pragmatic way. I believe my authentic and genuine interest in helping others is what enables my clients to "flip" their thinking and actions for positive change. With children I use various play and cognitive behavior therapies to help in navigating the academic, emotional and social stress they are faced with in today's digital world. Additionally, I work with parents to offer effective ways to parent their children for optimal success.

Gestalt Therapists
What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behavior, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
