I am EMDR trained and work with clients experiencing anxiety, major life stressors, mood disorders, substance use, grief, emotional dysregulation, and more.
It can be exhausting to navigate life when isolated, facing one stressor after another, feeling depressed or anxious, or trying to recover from a traumatic experience. For many, these experiences interfere with day-to-day life such as our relationships, work, school, and more. For many, therapy can provide needed support. The most significant part of therapy is your relationship with your therapist, this is why I approach therapy by getting to know you as a whole person and use a collaborative approach to help empower your innate strengths.

I am also EMDR trained.
Immediate daytime availability virtually on Monday through Thursday. There are many obstacles life may throw at us. Often these obstacles are unexpected and throw us off our desired path. Sometimes it may even feel that we have lost our way and our original path is out of sight, unable to be found. You may start to feel defeated or overwhelmed by what to do next. But with a little help, there is hope that you can rediscover your path or create an even better one!

I utilize EMDR to facilitate a faster healing process.
I work with people who have experienced trauma, especially narcissistic abuse. If you find yourself struggling to move forward and feel trapped in a relationship or feel as though you have lost your identity. I can help you navigate towards the path you want, instead of the path that was chosen for you. I have worked for several years as an EAP clinician helping people internationally who have anxiety, depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, work stress, relationship issues, and so on.

I practice an integrated, person-centered approach to counseling (based on each person’s unique needs) that combines cognitive and behavioral methods, brief solution-focused therapies, and EMDR.
As a veteran and retired state trooper, I have experienced the impact of the accumulation of stress from multiple critical incidents in addition to the need for confidentiality. You may feel like no one in your organization values or respects your dedication and that hurts the core of who you are. You loved your job, but now it feels like you don't recognize who you used to be and hide your suffering from those who know you best. You are afraid that a therapist can not relate to what you have been through, and fear your teammates will think you're weak.

I am EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) trained, a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the emotional distress that results from those experiences.
You’re struggling. Your relationships feel complicated. There are parts of life that feel stuck. The change you’re craving is possible! Together, we’ll work to understand you better—the stories you tell yourself, the choices you make, the relationships you love, and the behaviors that are holding you back. We’ll strengthen your connection to yourself and others.

While I utilize traditional healing methods such as cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches, healing is often most effective when combined with therapies which access the body-mind connection, such as EMDR, IFS, Gestalt therapy, guided imagery, and PACT and IFIO for couples, all tailored to each individual's or couple's needs.
As a therapist with 30+ years of experience, I have come to honor and respect all who are seeking health, wholeness, emotional re-patterning, or relief from pain, be it physical, emotional, relational, existential or spiritual. I specialize in working with couples on their relationships, and with individual adults who are having difficulty managing their current life's stressors due to past or ongoing trauma, which may be causing depression, anxiety, physical symptoms, and interpersonal challenges. My specialties are connecting clients with their internal strengths and resources for healing within as well as in their relationships.

I work with trauma and post traumatic stress treatments utilizing CPT and EMDR.
People of all ages can be helped by speaking to a professional about challenges in daily life. The value of the services you receive is related to the effectiveness of the services in meeting your goals. I am committed to providing effective services by maintaining a smaller number of clients, increasing the amount of time I am able to devote to each couple, family, or individual I work with. If you are looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or are just ready to move in a different direction, I look forward to working with you.

I have a wide variety of skills in my toolbox, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Transforming The Experienced Based Brain (transforming touch).
Life can be challenging at times and wrought with frustrations, sadness or anxieties. However, with therapy, those challenges don't have to be insurmountable. I believe therapy is about guiding you toward an emotionally healthy path in order to create the life you desire. The fact that you are searching for a therapist who feels like a "good fit" for you or your family, is an important first step (and a very courageous one). My goal is to support you along your journey by providing a non-judgmental and respectful atmosphere, as we jointly work toward you finding personal contentment.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
