Do you struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma/PTSD, motivation, communication issues, or a loss of a sense of self that affects your day-to-day life, relationships or ability to function? Now more than ever, individuals and those in relationship, are feeling the effects of living in a world that sometimes feels like it doesn’t quite fit them, they feel overwhelmed by the challenges of life, or feel unhappy in their current life situations. I believe change is possible, that there is hope, and that there are answers to be found within yourself.

Sometimes we are submerged in complicated feelings that are confusing and scary. This is actually a window into some of the core truths of our inner lives, of internalized relationships, longings, and past experiences. I accompany people through a deep exploration of this inner life and provide a supportive space to understand the unconscious, move through stuck points, and emerge to more genuinely appreciate your life.

If you’ve found your way to this site (and let’s be real…if you’re a human being), I know life has handed you or your child many stressors and challenges and you/ they are likely experiencing strong or even overwhelming emotions - perhaps anxiety, sadness, outbursts or numbing, low self-worth. I believe many of our common difficulties stem from experiences of disconnection - with ourselves, others, and the natural world - and that what most of us are seeking is a path toward belonging, joy, a sense of calm, and meaning. These gifts of life grow when we begin connecting, inward & outward, and immerse ourselves in the world around us.

Not accepting new clients
My goal is to meet my clients in the moment they are in, and invite them into a deeply safe experience of expanded possibility and curiosity. Connected more deeply to themselves, crucial feelings, fundamental beliefs and significant memories can emerge and be held with respect and kindness. Important individual and relational needs and healing can then be discovered, recognized, and realized.

I practice psychotherapy through a humanistic, solution-focused, and strengths-based approach, and I employ a variety of techniques and modalities based on the unique needs of each client.
Want to talk about relationship and sex-related issues, but feeling like you don't have a safe space to do so? I know how it feels when topics seem "off-limits" even in certain therapy settings! My therapeutic goal is to provide a comfortable, safe, and completely open environment where we can process whatever is going on! I approach all clients with a positive, curious attitude and uniquely alter my treatment plan modalities for each individual.

Grounded in a deeply humanistic and psychodynamic framework- I work with individuals as they detangle themselves from the scars of their past and the unhelpful narratives that result.
There is no need to struggle alone, and yet we often do. Our suffering may appear in many different forms, from depression and anxiety, to relationship issues, substance use and more. It’s time to shed this idea that “we have to have it all together” and allow ourselves be human for a moment. In this honest space, my clients tend to become more in touch with their authentic selves and establish beliefs, values, narratives and take steps towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

I approach clinical practice from a humanistic and interpersonal theoretical model.
For many people, choosing to seek counseling can be a difficult decision. I believe it takes a lot of courage to reach out for guidance and support, which is why I strive to respect client's autonomy, beliefs, and values in the process of counseling. Counseling is the process of discovering your true self and gaining the courage to seek your own path in life. My role is to facilitate this process using a variety of techniques based in a strong therapeutic relationship.

I utilize a person-centered, humanistic approach to treatment and integrate expressive therapeutic interventions into our work together.
We all get stuck sometimes in life. Whether we are stuck in an unhealthy relationship, stuck in a career rut , or stuck being unable to manage our emotions. We get stuck in cycles of negativity and forget how strong and resilient we really are. I firmly believe that we all have the power to change our lives for the better and sometimes just need extra support and a fresh perspective. I provide a neutral and safe therapeutic environment so that you may begin to heal, move forward and live the satisfied meaningful life that you deserve.

I work via telehealth and utilize existential and humanistic techniques within the specific modality of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to help clients achieve their goals.
My ideal client is any adult looking to create change in their life by being willing to change how they relate to their internal thoughts and feelings. This has a wide application for individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, interpersonal difficulties or just the stress of a post-pandemic world. I have a particular passion for working with those who have experienced developmental trauma and are looking for new ways to relate to themselves and their pasts.

Humanistic Therapists

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualization and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
