I have significant experience working with children and families to address parenting concerns, child behaviors at home and school, and overall relationship and family dynamic concerns.
Could your child or teen be happier? Are they struggling with self-worth, school achievement, peer relationships, depression, anxiety, or ADHD? Has the amount of time they use technology such as video gaming or social media become problematic? Life can be challenging, and most of us need help at one time or another. My passion is helping children and their families overcome barriers by empowering them with the skills and strategies to be the best they can be. I offer a safe place to process thoughts and feelings and be heard and understood.

Having a relationship with your child that is fun, easy, and enjoyable.
Parenting has been challenging for a while now. Your child has become defiant, disrespectful, and seems to have anger outbursts most days of the week. You’ve read countless self-help tips on managing your child’s behavior- time outs, rewards, punishments, spankings. These things worked for a couple of weeks, but there have been no long-term results from any of them. You always end up back at square one. Although, you don’t want to admit it, you’ve begun to dislike your child. You feel desperate for a change in your child’s behavior. You also feel hopeless that a change is possible. Is this what parenting is supposed to be like?

I have received training in Child and Teen EMDR, Natural Flow EMDR as well as other models.
Change can be intimidating however, by starting this process you have already taken a big step. Therapy is a collaboration opportunity to navigate the challenges occuring in your life. The approach that I use is one to help ensure that you learn practical tools that you can apply outside the office to assist you on your growth journey. I believe that every person has within them everything they need to grow and learn in life. Through discovering what works best for you, therapy can move you to approach self-healing and move in a positive direction.

Karyn Purvis (co-creator of TBRI®) used to say, "I've never met a child who couldn't come to deep levels of healing.
There's a quote by Dr. Russell Barkley that says, "The kids who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways." Because I'm a mother of 5 that has 11 years of experience with adoption issues, I know this to be true. Developmental trauma has a huge impact on children, whether it is a result of inconsistent early caregiving (adoption/foster/difficult home life), a difficult pregnancy or delivery, early hospitalization, abuse, or neglect. These are the kids that desperately need to feel loved and secure, but will act out in many ways to test their caregivers' resolve.

Your child’s future does not have to be ruled by fear or worry! I would be delighted and privileged to partner with you and your child to foster hope and support their growth from the intense fear controlling their life.
Is fear or anxiety getting in the way of your child enjoying the things they used to? Maybe it’s taking up so much time that they can’t do the important things- like making friends, going to school, or spending time with loved ones. Your child may fear that they will do something they didn’t mean to or something bad will happen, outside of their control. Perhaps they feel stuck doing the same behavior over and over again to try to find relief, just to find themselves scared and worried again. These experiences can be very painful and isolating, and if it’s your child, very confusing. If this sounds like your child, I'm here to help.

My primary theoretical approach is CBT which guides me towards children, adults, and couples.
Hi! My name is Madi Bryant and I am currently a student counselor here at Oasis Counseling Center. I am extremely excited and grateful to begin my counseling career with the Oasis team! I have always had a passion for helping others through times of crisis. I knew that I wanted to be a part of the counseling profession when my family experienced a traumatic event. From that moment, I knew that I would pursue counseling as my career. Furthermore, I have experienced a traumatic event and learned that reaching out for help is what got me through those difficult times. Growing up, I would feel stressed about certain things in my life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with three years experience working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Taking the first step to seek mental health treatment with the social stigma and stereotypes around the world can be challenging in it's itself. Stigma and stereotypes can cause people to not seek help for fear of the unknown and being judged by others. I offer an open safe supportive environment for clients to discuss their issues with out judgment. My goal is to have an open dialogue with clients about their goals and outcomes in treatment. I tailor therapy to the client's needs and strengths perspective to empower change. I am willing to invest the time and energy to helping my clients meet their needs.

Child Therapists
Child psychologists in Burlington, NC provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time, while the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in Burlington build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
