You don't have to continue struggling in silence. You can receive the help you need today. I understand that it can be very difficult to ask for help in a time of need. I hope that you are able to take that crucial step and I invite you to reach out to me. I provide compassion and a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive environment that allows others to express themselves, and uncover the barriers to achieving happiness, stability, and success. My approach is client-centered, based on the belief that every individual brings a unique outlook on personal, family, and cultural experiences.

Depending on a client's preference, I have used models like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
I started working in a multicultural setting in 2017 as a grad student whose goal was to introduce yoga and mindfulness in underserved and underrepresented communities. I am an Army veteran who has worked with active duty service members with chronic pain issues, many of whom are grappling with mental, emotional, and sometimes spiritual dimensions of pain. Folks who are looking for assistance with life transitions, chronic pain and stress, PTSD, relational issues, and depression. Life difficulties are multidimensional, and I can assist with learning how to tune in to your inner resources and pave the way toward contentment.

I utilize a blend of evidenced-based practices, including cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing.
I work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with anything from anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and addictions to stress management, relationships, boundary setting, difficult life events, and finding identity. I also work with people with co-occurring I/DD. Learning skillful ways to listen to, and cope with, emotions and the life events eliciting them is the first step toward healing and finding balance in life. Often that includes unlearning maladaptive coping skills, like alcohol and drug use, avoidance, or self harm. In therapy, my goal is to help develop coping skills, build confidence, and find balance.

I utilize therapeutic approaches such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, DBT and Motivational Interviewing to assist each individual with developing self-awareness.
Are you living a purpose filled life? A life that you enjoy waking up to and beginning your day with a strategic plan to live on purpose. At one point you felt optimistic about life then out of nowhere you were triggered by a memory from the past which led to your downward spiral of emotions. Now you are questioning your life's purpose and reason for existence. Or perhaps confused as to why you have experienced certain encounters leading you to feelings of stress, distant behavior, agitation, or perhaps hopeless.

I utilize evidence-based practices such as CBT, CPT, mindfulness, psychodynamic therapy, and motivational interviewing.
You should not have to face life transitions alone or silently. Therapy should feel collaborative and authentic for it to be most effective. Together, I work with my clients to unpack any negative thought patterns that could make them feel anxious, scared, or stuck. I am honored to be on the journey with clients as they increase their emotional awareness and start to make the changes needed to become the best version of themselves.

I often use techniques that are derived from Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Therapy, and Trauma Focused Therapy.
Life can be challenging, and making change alone can be a real struggle; however you are not alone! I want to do life with you and provide support. I have learned that one of the most important factors of success is making a connection and feelings comfortable with the person you choose to work with. In addition, I feel like you are the expert of your life and you have the answers within yourself; however sometimes it take someone coming along beside you to provide the support needed to help guide you to find those answers. I would love to get to know you and to have the opportunity to be a support for you!

Motivational Interviewing Therapists

How does motivational interviewing work?

Motivational interviewing aims to uncover a person’s internal motivation to change their life. Toward this end, the therapist listens, empathizes, and collaborates with the client based on their perspective; the therapist doesn’t adhere to a predetermined plan for change or impose their viewpoint on the client. Discovering an individual’s most important reasons for change, and guiding them to achieve those changes, can empower people to shift from ambivalence to action.

Is motivational interviewing evidence-based?

Yes, research shows that motivational interviewing can help treat alcohol and substance use — and in different ways such as reducing drinking, reducing resistance, and increasing the likelihood of staying in treatment. Motivational interviewing has also been shown to help people lose weight, adhere to medication regimens, improve diet for those with Type II diabetes, and improve healthy behaviors in children.

How long does motivational interviewing last?

Motivational interviewing is a short-term therapy that can last just one or two sessions. In some cases, motivational interviewing may be used in conjunction with longer-term therapies, but for most people, motivational interviewing is a brief intervention that aims to help patients understand their personal, specific, and internal reasons for changing their life.

What differentiates motivational interviewing from person-centered therapy?

In person-centered therapy, the individual is in the driver’s seat of the treatment process, creating space for them to trust their instincts and arrive at their own solutions. The two approaches are similar because motivational interviewing is also client-centered; however, person-centered therapy is more open-ended while motivational interviewing is somewhat more structured; the goal is to change, and the therapist helps the client specifically discover their internal motivations to modify their behavior.
