I serve clients from NC, NY, & FL. I offer support in feeling more connection to one's own wisdom, power, and the infinite possibilities that exist. My client's are tired of getting triggered, caught in negative thinking, and feeling stuck in feelings of anxiety, shame, sadness, anger, and depression. They are aware they are caught in some type of loop and are ready to break free of old programming. My clients are ready to love themselves, feel more peace, joy, love, wealth, and to experience more harmonious relationships. They know they have purpose in the world and are looking for a guide to support them.

People start to heal the moment they have the honest experience of being seen, heard and understood for who they are, in that moment. People’s whole systems calm down the moment they experience genuine connection with another human being who sees them as they are, and honors their ultimate goal of achieving dignity and integrity. When you enter into my space, you experience this for your healing.

Your grief is welcome here. When someone you love dies, your life can shift drastically. Every type of grief has the potential to be life disrupting, but grief experienced after suicide, overdose, or other traumatic loss can be particularly challenging. You may feel: shock, confusion, doubt, crushing pain, heartbreak, loneliness, despair, anxiety, overwhelm, anger, guilt, and isolation. Your life has been turned upside down in an instant. You feel lost. You don’t know who you are anymore, but you know you won’t be the same. You’re looking for a guide. Someone who gets it and can handle what you’ve got going on.

Each person comes to therapy for honest reasons. As we live, we often get overwhelmed, stuck, we suffer, and lose ourselves/others. Through cultural conditioning, we have forgotten to see the sacred in grief and honor what was. I get to join with others to help dissolve what is blocking them from their innate wisdom to know selves and connect with others. When I work with helping couples repair, I get to come alongside each person to help them not feel alone in their experience. I am an experienced relationship therapist (and work in progress). I enjoy helping people become more securely attached and live according to their values.

Let’s face it – being a human can be tough. Life transitions happen and can be scary, sometimes shaking us to our core. Helping you work through your past, present, and planning for a brighter future is where I come in. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it, you're in the driver’s seat of your own life. With that realization comes responsibility but also power. It's my life’s joy to empower others to create the life that they've always envisioned for themselves. Trauma has a way of repeating itself across generations, sometimes despite our best efforts. By reaching out, you're about to make the first step in ending negative cycles.

I work with clients in a relaxed, informal, and professional way to promote emotional safety and comfort within the relationship so that they can process openly and authentically about meaningful and often sensitive topics. While experiencing this connection, people are able to gain presence, reflect on experiences and plan for personal maintenance, change and growth. Many clients enjoy both spending time in the office, taking walks, spending time in nature, and/or meeting virtually for telehealth sessions. I like to utilize physical activity, mindfulness, and ecotherapy for engagement and emphasizing overall health and wellness.

I chose to enter the counseling field as a teen after I saw a counselor myself. My experience opened me up to learning to cope with things in a way that I had never learned. I was so changed by this process that I decided I wanted to give others what had been given to me.

You watch as your tween or teen struggle: they isolate in their room, tell you they are fine, but don't want to do the things that used to make them happy. They have big outbursts and seem so unhappy. It's easy to take it on, like you've failed as a parent. You're up at night worrying, wishing it was still as simple as putting a bandaid on a scraped knee. But it's not that simple anymore. The reality is, your tween or teen is dealing with so much: social media, the state of the world, a future that can feel uncertain. And add to that all the regular stressors! It's easy to feel like your family is the only one struggling.

I am a fully licensed psychologist who has been serving a variety of populations for over 10 years. My experience has primarily been in working with individuals with serious mental illness including personality disorders, trauma and those involved in the criminal justice system, specifically for crimes related to sex offenses. I believe my experience allows me to have a unique understanding of the origins, symptoms and challenges faced by those struggling with serious mental illness. I believe an effective therapeutic relationship requires a collaborative, non-judgmental, trusting atmosphere and that is my focus in my practice.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer Employee Assistance Plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.

What is an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)?

Employee Assistance Plans are purchased by employers for the benefit of their employees. EAPs typically assist employees with referrals and may also provide the first few sessions of therapy free of charge, with the patient's regular health insurance kicking in after those initial sessions. EAP benefits often apply to all types of therapy without the need for a medical diagnosis, making it easier to access couples therapy, therapy for life transitions, and other non-medical counseling. Just as with standard health insurance, clients should always check that a provider accepts their EAP benefits before scheduling.
