Waitlist for new clients
I specialize in grief, anxiety and handling of a recent diagnosis.
As a licensed therapist my goal is to make the counseling process one of comfort and growth. I understand that it isn't easy to make change, and it can be both difficult and painful to address an issue that is truly weighing you down. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling and am also trained in many evidence based techniques. At this time I am unable to accept new clients who require weekend or evening hours.

It can be daunting to face major life changes such as death, health issues, divorce, retirement, relationship issues, aging, and feeling stuck in life. Successful counseling takes courage and commitment. Congratulations on taking the first step. We will start by you sharing your story of what is distressing you and what you want to change. Then, we will collaborate and develop a plan to address your objectives that you believe will work for you. I will guide you through the process to help you believe in your personal strengths, heal, and learn new behaviors that bring positive outcomes.

You deserve to live a life that is calm, clear, and connected to the people and activities that bring you real joy. As a therapist specializing in anxiety, OCD, and complex grief, I’ve helped countless clients break free from anxiety’s grip and reclaim their lives, transforming once overwhelming thoughts into confidence and calm.

While I do have expertise in treating clients with eating concerns, I enjoy working to help clients with other mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, and general life concerns and obstacles.
Most people get up everyday with the intention to do and feel their best. Clients typically come in to see me when something is getting in the way of allowing this to happen. Whether the obstacle is emotional, relational, behavioral, or motivational, I work interactively with my clients to understand the underlying problem and help them seek alternative methods or solutions toward reaching their goals. Change requires understanding, validation, and trust. I work very hard to establish these with every client I meet.

My interests in therapy include: * Adult individual/couples counseling, * Relationship and parenting concerns, * Grief and loss, * Transitions, * Depression and Anxiety, * Questions about spirituality and religion.
People who seek help through the stresses and traumas of life instead of succumbing to them are the bravest people I know. Although therapy may not feel courageous, at some point, we all need the presence and compassionate care of someone committed to our healing process. This is my passion. I work with courageous people who choose to move toward wholeness while continuing to live and care for the responsibilities of their lives. A large part of my work is devoted to helping men and women work through traumatic experiences in the present and those remembered from the past.

Living and enjoying your life with greater degrees of wholeness, love, freedom and creativity is possible. But you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns of relating to yourself and others. Maybe a traumatic event or life history keeps you frozen in time and in distress. Perhaps your sense of wonder and awe at being alive is diminished and you long for meaning. Maybe you find that you're living through a maze of symptoms like depression and anxiety. You wonder if it's safe enough to talk to someone and be heard in a non-judgmental way.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
