Founded on a person-centered approach, I believe that the professional relationship is a large part of the therapeutic work. Although I integrate several evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, somatic, psycho-dynamic, & motivational interviewing interventions, I welcome any presentation for both adults as well as youth.

My treatment focuses on people with chronic illness, trauma, especially people with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, other autoimmune disorders and those who love a person with chronic illness. If you are struggling adapting to a new diagnosis of diabetes, or with the rigors of long-standing diabetes self-management, you are not alone. Diabetes distress and burnout have been well-defined and are treatable. If you love someone with chronic illness, and you find it difficult to manage your anxiety or have burnout yourself, please consider psychotherapy.

My ideal client is willing to rethink what therapy looks and feels like - being open to a variety of techniques; collaborating; and engaging body, mind, and emotions, particularly in the outdoors. I conduct experiential outdoor sessions (when weather permits), helping clients in connecting with themselves by grounding in the supportive power of nature. Walking and talking in an outdoor space allows us to engage in an informal environment, while still providing therapeutic benefits.

Why? It's such a simple word with so much importance. As humans, it is in our nature to ask this question about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Sometimes the answer may not be so clear. That's where therapy can help. I work with teens and adults who ask themselves this question every day. Perhaps you have experienced trauma at some point in your life, you're going through major changes, or you're struggling to truly find yourself. No matter where you are in your life, there is strength in asking for help.

It is common to see therapy as a journey to discover the Self. We have familiar maps, or patterns, which can lead to unhappiness or self-sabotaging behavior. You may find yourself stranded in all-too-familiar territory with little idea of how to move on. Like many journeys, it can be an exciting adventure but can also be full of unknowns. I see my role as your guide, to blaze new “routes” together that have worked well for others. As Helen Keller once said: “What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.” I truly believe the exquisite joy you find by falling in love with yourself is a journey you don’t want to miss!
