I work in a relational psychodynamic way, integrating Internal Family Systems and other modalities to work with our complexities.
Sometimes our current way of being ourselves feels stuck. Perhaps something in you feels unhealed, unwell, dead, or disconnected, incapable, or inaccessible. There are innumerable ways to speak of a rich and fulfilling life, but I believe one thing required is a feeling a wholeness and integration in our way of being. Trauma, pain, shame, stuck patterns of disconnection – there can be many obstacles to a thriving way of being ourselves. If you can relate to this, I say with compassion: “Welcome!" I work with individuals and couples who want to cultivate deeper connection and fulfillment in life.

My ideal client would be a person who is ready and willing to explore how their past informs their present, how their internal life (thoughts, emotions, and aspirations) influences their external life (job, family, and friendships), and how their perceptions shape their reality.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in attachment theory, mindfulness, body-centered modalities, IFS(internal family systems) and expressive arts.
Hello! I believe that each one of us comes into this world with particular strengths and gifts to offer. Through the turmoil, loss, and pain we face, we often become disconnected from our true and whole self, losing sight of these strengths and gifts. In our work together, my goal is to provide a safe and therapeutic container for you to explore what is blocking you from your joy, supporting and guiding you in reclaiming your whole self.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I’ve worked with many individuals, couples, and families struggling with negative patterns and high conflict.
Do you take care of everyone but yourself? Do your intimate relationships, parenting, career goals, and life in general suck away your mojo? When life feels so demanding that you can't keep up, how do you find your way back to center? Maybe you're struggling not to fight with your partner or children. Maybe you're scared of "not letting anyone down." Maybe the thought of conflict makes you want to throw up. Maybe you have no idea who you are or what you want, but you're ready to explore how you got here. It's not too late to salvage your relationships— or your own sense of self and wellbeing.

I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and arts-based interventions.
I integrate my lifelong admiration for the healing power of the mind/body connection throughout my therapeutic practice, and so that connection is where we will begin our work together. While my clinical perspective keeps the interplay of person in environment front and center, I practice with a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing clinical lens that allows me to see the whole person with their strengths and ways of being in the world. I can help with a range of issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, life stressors and transitions. I offer support for parents and children with therapy and parent coaching.

I've worked with teens, kids, and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds and family structures.
I am accepting new virtual clients in the state of North Carolina. Call or email to set up an appointment. The road to wellness begins in the mind; but this is not a journey you have to face alone. Everyone needs a little help navigating through life from time to time. I enjoy working with creative types - musicians, artists, writers - however I am able to connect with clients of various backgrounds and interests. The kinds of issues I routinely treat include ADHD, anxiety, panic, depression and other mood disorders, relationship struggles, school/career related concerns, family conflict, LGBTQ+ concerns, and self-esteem issues.

I have 35+ years of clinical experience in addiction, trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, family system intervention, as well as Spiritual Counseling/Guidance.
I seek to guide individuals to discover & grow into their highest possibilities. Through clear and compassionate inquiry, my focus is to support clients to learn to meet themselves where they are and to build on the skills and talents s/he possesses. Counseling supports/interventions are designed to remove barriers (e.g., limiting beliefs, conditioning) that block one from being empowered to make changes and live to the fullest capacity. Family/Couple counseling centers on encouraging each person to be aware of their own pre-sets & ego-mind expectations, and take personal responsibility for their emotional well-being/choices.

I offer general psychotherapy around family of origin, attachment and relationship issues.
After 30 years of clinical experience with individuals and couples, I believe the process of psychotherapy strengthens relationships with the self and others, enhancing both insight and opportunities for growth. I bring an open mind, respect and practicality to the therapeutic relationship. I am currently offering treatment using teletherapy and in-person sessions. I am an out of network provider but am committed to helping you to receive reimbursement by your insurance and to adjusting the fee if necessary.

I believe my early work in addictions helped to prepare me for this work and integrates very well with women's issues, grief, trauma and family systems work.
An ideal client would be someone who has possibly done some therapy work in the past, and still feels stuck in the area of relationships, addictions, trauma, grief or loss or someone who has never been to therapy previously. There are many places to get stuck in life, I find it interesting to find ways out of that place.

My therapeutic interventions draw from a variety of evidenced based approaches including person centered therapy, family systems approach, solution-focused and cognitive behavioral techniques.
Together we can create a supportive, nurturing environment where you can explore your experiences, thoughts and emotions at your pace. My ultimate goal is to empower you to take steps towards fulfilment, healing, self acceptance and balance in your life. I prioritize empathy and active listening in sessions and help my clients establish personalized goals, always striving to foster a therapeutic relationship based on trust and genuine understanding. I believe in a holistic approach that considers the mind, body, and spirit, recognizing the interconnectedness of these in one's wellbeing.

When doing family work, my aim is to help members feel connected to and seen by their loved ones.
Hi all! I come from a diverse therapeutic background and work well with both teens and adults. I offer attachment-focused EMDR and parts work when working with an individual, as well as pragmatic information about how our nervous systems work/how to regulate ourselves when feeling overwhelmed by anxiety or stress. In session, I show up with attunement and flexibility– I can lead a guided meditation, come up with a creative activity, or use movement to connect and ground– all according to your needs.

I have specialized training in Family Centered Treatment, Trauma Informed Care, and EMDR.
Are you feeling frustrated or confused as to what to do next to support your child? Has something changed and they just don't seem like them self lately? Maybe they are acting different or distancing them self, struggling at school, stressed by peer relationships, seem more irritable and angry, have low motivation. Are they struggling with regulating or coping with uncomfortable emotions? Perhaps they are coming out sideways: excessive worry, defiance, refusal, self-harm, eating struggles, anger, withdrawing. My goal is to provide a secure, safe, supportive space for you and your child to share, heal, grow and thrive.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
