With over 12 years of post-graduate experience in the field of child psychotherapy, I combine my knowledge of Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness along with the awareness that each child is special and precious.
I'm a therapist for grieving children and their families in Asheville, NC, and previously in the Bronx, NY. My training includes a Master’s degree from Columbia University, fellowship with the National Health Service Corps, certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the Registered Play Therapist Supervisor credential. I've served as the VP of the NY Association for Play Therapy, taught as an adjunct lecturer, and authored several publications (including children's books addressing grief). My hope is to be a therapeutic companion to children and families experiencing grief and loss.

Through cognitive and experiential approaches I help you reconnect to your emotions and intentionally engage with parts of yourself that may feel stuck or overwhelming.
Hi, and thank you for being here, I know that looking for a therapist can be extremely intimidating, and a vulnerable process. I deeply respect the courage it takes to reach out for support. And while your therapeutic work can be uncomfortable and challenging, I do my best to provide a warm, accepting, and easy place for you to talk about and work through the hard stuff. I strive to create a compassionate, non-judgmental space to help you create an experience of perspective change, personal growth, and healing. Through this I hope to help you open up new possibilities and create a new path to move forward.

I specialize in EMDR (processes traumatic memories/core beliefs), Internal Family Systems Therapy (systems of protective and wounded inner parts led by a core Self), and Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy (emotions/sensations in the body in the present moment). I also use a variety of other forms of psychotherapy including Hakomi, Contemplative, Person-Centered (Rogerian), Existential, Relational Life Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I provide a safe, nonjudgemental space for you to turn toward your experience. A whole body-mind approach has the ability to transform, much more than talk therapy alone.

I work from a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach and I draw from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness to support YOU in YOUR journey to healing.
Have you ever said “ I will never drink again” only to find yourself drinking again? Do you find yourself hiding bottles? Going to different stores each day to buy alcohol? Does your drinking cause shame and guilt? Are you feeling isolated, alone, misunderstood? Are you stuck in the same patterns of behavior? Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here. Together we can work to help equip you with the necessary tools to help you face and overcome your challenges.

I view myself as an eclectic counselor as I like to pull from various theories to best fit your needs. I'm credentialed by the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies to provide CBT, and I also use other evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-based therapies.
Anxiety, Addiction, or Depression might have you feeling like you've lost touch with the life you really want. You might feel alone in all this, but I promise you're not. I help people just like you learn concrete tools and strategies to achieve the life you want. It's ok if you aren't sure what you want. We can figure it out together and build a roadmap for how to get there. The most important thing that a client needs is a therapist who is nonjudgmental, compassionate, relatable, and down to earth - so I work hard to embody these qualities.

As a seasoned therapist with over 30 years of clinical experience, my work is grounded in psychodynamic theory, and incorporates cognitive-behavioral techniques, positive psychology, mindfulness training, and family systems.
My therapy approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. In an open and caring environment, an individual's ability to change self-defeating patterns of thoughts and behaviors, increase self-esteem, recognize strengths, and develop healthy relationships is enhanced.

I use effective, proven tools from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches to guide both individuals and couples toward their chosen destinations.
Engaging in therapy is an important commitment and can be difficult to fit in with the rest of life's responsibilities. Perhaps you've tried therapy before and found it unhelpful, or worry that constant engagement in therapy is required for lasting change. Trying to cope with the aftermath of trauma, or the way anxiety symptoms can disrupt a day, or having the same fight again and again with a partner can seem to take all of your energy and motivation. Life is often stressful and chaotic, and the times when we feel most stretched thin are the times we need the most support and change.

Because each individual is unique, I draw from an eclectic approach of modalities; narrative therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, Emotion–Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, motivational interviewing, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
When certain parts of our life feel out of control, it creates stress that impacts other areas of our life. Seeking help can feel like a chore. Not only do you have to find a therapist that feels like a good fit, but you have to tell your story to a stranger. I know all of this, and I want to make it feel easy, productive, and worth your time. I enjoy helping all people, but some of my refined interests include traumatic stress, attachment injuries, SUD's, and life transitions. I can help adults, teens, kids, couples and families. In my work with teens, I have interest and experience in helping adoptees and transnational adoptees.

I use an integrative approach while treating clients, drawing from CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, and mindfulness skills.
Throughout my career, I have been amazed and inspired by the resilience of human beings through the most adverse experiences. We all possess an innate level of resilience, although sometimes we need help building it up and tapping into it. I am hopeful that we can work together to build your resilience to cope with hardships, overcome challenges, and navigate daily life in an empowering, healthy manner.

I specialize in CBT, Internal Family Systems, ADHD and Person Centered Therapy.
I have been an LCSW for over 25 years, and have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, families and individuals. I am mainly focusing on adult/young adult individual work currently, and I enjoy watching clients heal and transform their lives. I tend to work with clients who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Trauma, Life transitions, and relationship issues. My style as a therapist is more of a therapist/coach. That being said, I listen well, and only "coach" when the client is ready. I strive to look at the whole client and all of their parts, and meet them there, and then help them to get to where they want to be.
