I specialize in individual psychotherapy and career coaching using evidence- based tools including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
Welcome! The calming presence of a seasoned therapist can provide much needed respite in an increasingly complex world. At its best, therapy can also help you to get to know yourself better and learn new tools to move forward from a place of self-compassion. I help individuals develop tools to heal from trauma and loss, let go of unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, and identify what they most value at work and in relationships. My deep-seated empathy drives my work with clients, which is informed by my 15 years as a licensed professional counselor and three years as a meditation instructor.

My work primarily focuses on anxiety related issues especially when going through a transition (break-up, career change, medical diagnosis). I work a lot with people as they adjust to life living on their own, navigating careers, and relationships. Much of the session will be focused on calming your flight or flight reaction so you can be in a better place to make decisions, set goals and respond to whatever life throws at you. I provide video and face to face sessions.

Being seen and accepted in the fullness of your complexity is an innate human need. Are you thinking of life transitions such as: career changes, relationship changes, birthing, grief, and loss? We all need to be witnessed, particularly during major life transitions. My work centers around creating and holding space for the complexity of life transitions, with particular attention to the transitional periods of life, such as the perinatal period. I center anti-oppressive practices for multiracial families to explore their deeply embedded wisdom and to find a path that honors the fullness of their humanity.

Welcome to my site! I'm a psychotherapist and coach with over 20 years of experience working with a variety of issues including: anxiety and depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, sexuality, financial literacy, high performance, mindset, habits for success, boundaries, and burnout. I'm a wife, mother and business owner who has experienced and recovered from burnout several times in my career. Many of us are juggling a lot of different roles, and it can be difficult to zoom out and make sense of our lives, much less make meaningful changes.

I’ll make it my job to help you unlock the tools necessary to get you to a point where you no longer need to see me.
When I was an adolescent I was a Bart Simpson. I was routinely sent to the office, struggled with peer relationships and had frequent conflicts with authority figures. I relate well with teen and young adult males because I still partake in skating, lifting, and gaming. It can be difficult navigating the labyrinths of life, be it conflicts with parents, the effects of divorce, the aftermath of abuse, etc. Long story short, with good decisions and coping skills, you can overcome your problems and correct the course of your ship.

I want to hear your story. You know... the story of getting in trouble in elementary school, your first major accomplishment, when your parents split up, the first time you fell in love, the career path you're currently questioning, and what it feels like to age. The official line: I am a therapist has a wide background in the mental health field. The human line: I believe connection and vulnerability takes courage. This life shit is hard. Through the power of sharing your story and myself as a passenger in your journey, we can make life feel, well, less like you're losing the battle and more like you're the hero of your story.

When we shift our experience of anxiety, stress, trauma responses, etc, we change our relationships, career, academic, athletic worlds as well.
I know you are looking for the opposite experience of what I had with my first therapist: stuffy, pretentious, and hypocritical advice from someone that didn’t know or understand me. This is a therapist directory website, which could mean you are already on your journey to closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be. I’m sure you have already tried many things. I may not be the first therapist you have seen or considered working with about this. I know you need a different experience than what you have had.

I think that we all create our own reality by the unique way in which we perceive and then react to life situations. I’m eager to support clients in seeing “their role” in any life problems they face, and in finding effective ways to create a fulfilling life. I've supported clients having a wide range of problems - eating disorders, conflicted family and job relationships, and dysregulated emotions. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to make positive behavioral changes in their lives. I guide my clients in choosing and implementing those actions which will bring them the meaningful results they seek.

Are you feeling alone, anxious or depressed? Unsatisfied with your career, have chronic pain or illness? Relationship stress, extended family issues? My clients tell me I'm warm, easy to talk to, and down to earth. I use a variety of treatment approaches: psychodynamic and relational, combined with CBT, EFT, and EMDR. EMDR can help almost any problem resolve more quickly because it allows the brain to make changes on a deeper level than just talking. We still talk plenty though, before, during and after EMDR. My clients find telehealth to be helpful and convenient. I see regular clients occasionally at my home office.

I connect easily with clients to feel lighter and clearer in their minds, body, and Spirit. I work with people with stressful careers in medicine, law, finance, and small businesses. Knowing the necessity of keeping a clear head and calm body, yet have been struggling with heartbreak, anxiety, fears, loss and grief that has created overwhelming stress and expectations that limits functioning. It is a challenging balancing act with career, family, relationships, along with finding some quiet time to relax. I help you master these challenges with a very confidential, (no insurance or electronic records) safe, and caring environment.

Career Counseling Therapists

How do I know if I need career counseling?

Determining whether a career counselor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counseling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counselor.

Who can benefit from career counseling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counseling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counseling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counselor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counseling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counseling typically last?

The length of career counseling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking. Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counseling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counselor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counseling?

Clients can prepare for career counseling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counselor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counselor, particularly if the career counselor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counseling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
