I love supporting women and teens who are struggling to adapt to life's challenges and demands. As a therapist, I am very passionate about offering ways to process grief that gets in the way of making connections and attachments. I am passionate about supporting individuals who struggle with parenting demands/challenges and symptoms of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma. Those might be a lack of interest in daily activities, a lack of social support/connections, a lack of motivation, an increase in panic and/or anxiousness, or a tendency to be distracted/disorganized.

While I work with adults and teens facing any number of challenges, I work with many folks with ADHD.
We should expect life to be challenging, but when we struggle to the point of suffering, it’s time to reset. I help adults and adolescents move from fear, suffering, and shame, back to a place of functioning and rediscovering meaning. Whether it is mood, functioning, relationships, or anxiety, we can discuss how to get life back in order. If you're concerned about drug or alcohol use, let's talk about your goals- treatment is not one-size-fits-all.

Hello, I'm Marlowe Kovach, a licensed clinical social worker based in Asheville, NC. I'm deeply passionate about supporting fellow helping professionals through the challenges of burnout, anxiety, and job-related trauma. I also have a special focus on supporting parents who feel maxed out, and individuals processing the world through an ADHD lens. Helping professions are known for burnout—the workloads can feel like being caught in relentless waves. Modern parenting often echoes this sentiment, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and constantly asked to do more.

I specialize in CBT, Internal Family Systems, ADHD and Person Centered Therapy.
I have been an LCSW for over 25 years, and have enjoyed working with children, adolescents, families and individuals. I am mainly focusing on adult/young adult individual work currently, and I enjoy watching clients heal and transform their lives. I tend to work with clients who struggle with Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Trauma, Life transitions, and relationship issues. My style as a therapist is more of a therapist/coach. That being said, I listen well, and only "coach" when the client is ready. I strive to look at the whole client and all of their parts, and meet them there, and then help them to get to where they want to be.

I understand human development and thriving is difficult in this lifetime. I am here to be of help. This struggle may be found in a past trauma that is sticks out in your heart and mind as a thorn piercing in. Or maybe it's the neurodivergent attributes of yourself you haven't quite understood. Maybe you've been diagnosed with ADHD at a young age and never learned anything about it or how to take care of it other than taking medication - or worse, thinking that you were inadequate. Maybe it's the navigation of unclear waters around your own psyche. May we create clear pathways together!

As a recovering perfectionist with ADHD, I know the struggle of imposter syndrome & the fear of “not being enough.
Exhausted by your loud inner critic? Overwhelmed by your neverending to-do list? Despite looking like you have your sh!t together, internally you may feel like a scattered fraud cosplaying as a human. Trying to be the perfect friend, perfect professional, or perfect partner all at once is exhausting. Maybe there's a deeper wound that hasn't healed yet. Perhaps you dream of feeling fulfilled, calm, & confident. To say "no" and actually mean it. To stop playing small & launch that creative idea. If you want to stress less & live authentically without fear or guilt, I’d love to help you step into your power.

Using evidence-based practices, we can quiet those feelings of anxiety, ADHD, or trauma triggers.
You’re scrolling around looking for a therapist who “gets it”. While you appear to have it all together from the outside, you have this nagging feeling that something in your life isn't working. At one point you were confident and strong, but today you feel worn down by your relationships, work, or overwhelming responsibilities. Maybe your upbringing has kept you feeling small, unsure of who you are and what you want out of life. You want support stepping more fully into your cultural, sexual, or ADHDer identities. You want a therapist who understands the nuance and code-switching it takes to navigate this world.

Hi! Going to therapy can be an intimidating process, and my goal is to create an authentic and accepting environment to help you feel seen, understood, and give you the confidence to try things differently. When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
