Hey! I'm Katherine, a mom, wife, and mental health counselor. I'm passionate about providing a safe space for people to work through some hard things. I'd love working with you if you have a general idea of your goals but don't know how to get there on your own. I'm trained in different types of therapy but I'm missing information that only you can bring to the table: your life experiences, passions, and vulnerabilities. Let's work toward increasing the knowledge you have about yourself, being able to recognize your emotions and how they affect your body, and learning to sit with the uncomfortable stuff.

Our ideal client is anyone who has a strong desire to better themselves and want a better quality of life. So often we become complacent in our discontent and just settle for what we are accustomed to, but I am here to help anyone who is ready to break through that shell and demand more from life!

Do you ever find yourself saying "It is not supposed to be this way"? At times we have all felt lost in life, or found ourselves in a place we do not wish to be. Whether it be at the hands of trauma, loss of self-esteem, familial discord, or failed relationships, sometimes we all need some guidance getting back to our best version of ourselves.

I specialize in Neurodivergent-Affirming Care - those with and without formal ADHD/Autism Spectrum Diagnoses, Religious Trauma, Grief & Loss, and Life Transitions.
Hello and welcome to all who seek personalized therapy at Collaborative InSights! It's hard understanding and regulating emotions. Especially when we see other people "get it," it's hard to understand why life feels so different for us. It may even be hard to find someone who understands you at all. But, as someone who was diagnosed with ADHD in 2022, I get it. And believe me, you're not alone. I hope to be the person you trust to walk with you as you learn about yourself, others, and the world. My goal is for clients to leave feeling more self-assured, confident, and accepting of themselves.

Service Members, Veterans, and their Families- It's important to acknowledge that serving our Great Nation comes with its fair share of challenges. These challenges can have a lasting impact on our nation's heroes and their loved ones. The process of reintegrating after deployments, the loss of community during transitions and relocations, and exposure to traumatic events are just a few examples of the difficulties that individuals, couples, and families may face.

I have been a clinical social worker/therapist for almost 30 years. My overall philosophy is to empower a client with tools to make personal changes that will ultimately make seeing me for therapy unnecessary. I specialize in clients who are going through personal transitions such as divorce, grief or other uncertainties that cause anxiety and I have a lot of experiencing working with clients who experience gender/relationship violence or trauma.

Unhealed grief and trauma can leave you feeling hollow, even when everything looks fine on the outside.
Your life may look perfect on the surface—a successful career, a beautiful home, a seemingly ideal relationship—but underneath, there’s a deeper truth. You’ve become a master at hiding your struggles, forcing yourself to keep up appearances. But this comes at a cost: you’ve lost touch with your true self, and life has started to feel like an endless cycle of just getting by. Behind the smiles, there’s a lack of purpose in your career, overwhelming family obligations, and a fading connection in your relationships. You’re grieving the person you used to be, while resenting the person you’ve had to become.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
