Feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed? It's easy to feel unsettled these days. The pace of life just keeps getting faster and stress keeps piling on. In addition to worrying all the time you’ve also been having more physical problems: digestive issues, headaches, trouble sleeping. You never feel rested anymore. The truth is, you just don’t feel like yourself. It's all too much. With all that that life is throwing at you it’s hard to know where to turn and who to trust. The good news is you don't have to face the difficulties of life alone. Together we can find an approach that works for YOU!

A connection with my clients is the first thing that others will say is strong about my work. Building a trusting relationship in which there is safety, genuine care, interest, and validation is at the core of good therapy and is my strength. My interventions are soft and leave each of my clients feelings they have authority in their own lives, they can love and respect and care about themselves, showing themselves compassion at every turn. Your goals are my goals always.

Imagine having a therapist who not only has over 25 years of experience as a clinical social worker but also views his profession as an art form. I bring a compassionate and skilled approach inspired by my grandfather, an artist who struggled with emotional needs. His wisdom, “A man who works with his hands, his mind, and his heart is an artist,” profoundly influenced me, leading me to see my therapeutic work through an artistic lens, despite being a red-green color-blind social worker.

Kardia Counseling & Consulting began with the idea that the healing process is as much about what you feel and think as it is HOW you think about your feelings; the notion that healing, at its core is the repairing of our soul; to be done respectfully, compassionately and with conscious intention. The realignment of our innermost "being-ness" with that of our true nature could indeed recenter and heal us; that our deepest desires for internal peace, blissful coexistence with loved ones and even the contemplation of true happiness is within our reach.

My program is most successful with people who recognize they need change, are ready to change, and believe it’s possible. They can identify at least one problem or unreached goal and are committed to learning something new. The clients that experience the fastest changes are those most willing to consider new perspectives about their pain or people and try new approaches. We're not going to talk a lot about the whys, we'll address the what - what is wrong and what you want instead. If you're ready to release the trauma and embrace joy, forgiveness, and freedom, you're a great fit!

I believe in the infinite possibilities of each human being, I believe in the sacredness of each life, I believe in new beginnings, in the dreams and desires that we all carry to be loved and respected for who we are. I believe that the past does not determine our lives and that crises and conflicts are sources of transformation. These are some of the beliefs that guide my therapeutic practice. The strengthening of couple relationships, parenting skills, communication issues and conflict management have been areas in which I have worked personally and in groups in various cultural environments.

Do you find yourself being sad, mad, irritable, scared or just no longer joyful? Stress and emotional pain certainly impact performance, interpersonal relationship, physical and mental health. Chronic stress and emotional pain can lead to symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief, behavior complications and misguided coping through substances. This contributes to conflict with friends and family. Situations you once could manage become overwhelming.

Dr. Bloom gave up a lucrative medical career to treat the root psychological components of physical, emotional, and spiritual conditions. In his 35 years of practicing medicine he found that the mind-body connection is very real, and is the invisible cause of many seemingly untreatable medical conditions. He found that by correcting root unconscious causes of diseases, many chronic medical conditions can improve. This can be seen in the numerous clinical studies which can be found at rootcausehypnosis.online/education/hypnosis-studies

Good psychotherapy requires a "match" between client(s) and therapist and avoids "stretching the client to fit the couch." Finding the right psychotherapist involves both clinical skill and personality match. A good therapist is genuine, warm, and offers a human relationship with active listening, guidance, and good advice. As a Marriage & Family Therapist, what I offer as a clinician is an active style of psychotherapy with a high regard for where you are in your journey, what your goals are, and what things can be pointed out and changed along the path to growth and improved relationships.

Something crazy or intense happened. Maybe you know what it was or maybe you don't. Maybe it's still happening. Or maybe something has always felt a bit off or harder than seems necessary. Or maybe you just feel stuck. I would be happy to walk the path with you of finding ways to resolve, rebuild, and renegotiate how you respond to situations, people, and yourself. I am trained in many body- and nervous system-based modalities, such as Somatic Experiencing, NARM, BASE, co-regulating touch, Brainspotting, NLP, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), & EMDR. I also work with couples learning how to communicate better.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Therapists

How does neuro-linguistic programming work?

A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviors. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?

NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualization or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?

Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?

While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
