Therapy is a very individual process with each person having their own concerns and challenges that they are looking for help with. Maybe it feels like you’re constantly unsure and struggling while everyone around you is doing fine? Or like there are an overwhelming number of issues in the world that worry you and you don’t know what to do? Maybe your life feels like something isn’t working but what that is isn’t clear? Regardless of what you’re struggling with, my overall goal in therapy is to work with you to build up the skills, confidence, and support you need to move into a life that works better for you.
In general, some of the approaches I found useful in reaching these goals include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I often use mindfulness based tools that focus on paying attention to the present moment and choosing how to respond from there, but I use many other approaches as well.
I also maintain a client load that gives me more flexibility with session length so I don't have to rigidly stick to the 50 minute session if more time would be helpful.
