I work with clients who are navigating life transitions, stress, challenges with depression and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, diagnoses such as OCD, ADHD, and ASD. Many of the people I work with are seeking new ways of creating meaning and purpose in their lives. Primarily I work with LGBTQIA+ people at Connally Counseling, so I have experience supporting people with identity exploration, issues related to coming out, and transition.
I draw from a number of theories and approaches to individually tailor my work with clients. I enjoy using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, and polyvagal theory. I like to think of clients holistically, and as more than a diagnostic label.
I believe you are the expert on you and that I am more like a guide who will be grateful to hold my lantern to your path as you walk this part of your journey. There are innumerable examples about what to "do" with suffering. However, a large part of my experience in this work has helped me learn how to "be" with people who are suffering.
