I have experience working with maternal mental health, trauma, depression, anxiety, and many other mental health needs.

I enjoy working with young adults, couples, and families through an attachment-based lens.
We are meant to share life's hardships with others, rather than be alone with our pain. So much suffering today stems from a sense of isolation and disconnection within our lives. I offer a therapeutic relationship based on unconditional acceptance and compassion; where you can feel support in creating healthier relationships, evaluate what you seek in life, and diminish pressures that hinder your growth and happiness. We live in a stressful, anxiety-provoking time. When we slow down and look at our own core values and how we would like to inhabit our lives, we give ourselves permission to make mistakes and grow.

My work is trauma-oriented and attachment-based in its orientation.
I practice a relational form of counseling, which means I weigh heavily on how and why our relationships develop while taking into consideration the mental, physical and emotional associations we draw or conclude from these relationships. The relationship between therapist and client, the relationships you have had over the course of your life, issues and/or concepts you have faced or struggled with, and, most importantly, the relationship you have with yourself are all focal points for counseling. Trust and building rapport with your therapist is paramount and I work to cultivate an environment that promotes respect and self-exploration.

I integrate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma focused methods.
Each of us have deep-seeded value and deserve to be connected to our whole selves. Often, past experiences of trauma and suffering not only impact our beliefs, behaviors, and relationships, but disconnect us from ourselves. Discovering ourselves can be difficult, but it is an essential part of healing. Our capacity for growth and change is possible with understanding and compassion.

I practice from a Feminist, Anti-Racist lens. I work specifically with prenatal and postpartum women. I also have experience with children, teens, and adults who may have experienced trauma. Often these life altering events create so much stress that behavioral and emotional problems arise. I use a variety of creative, client-centered techniques to work through these issues. I take a strengths based approach to therapy, guiding individuals to embrace and honor themselves. I use relational, attachment techniques to build trust, safety, and security that clients can take from our sessions into their lives and other relationships.

I believe there is already more right with you than wrong with you. When you believe this as well, watch out, for the world will begin to reflect the new perspectives and energy you create. With good reason you arrived at a disbelief in your goodness, uniqueness and personal power to create a better life. Core beliefs are adopted early in life from challenge and trauma. They reside deep in the subconscious where they can be difficult to rewrite. I can help you replace old ways of thinking, feeling and acting with those that support growth, expansion and attainment of goals that lie beyond your current limiting beliefs.

I believe each us embody an innate wisdom and deep knowing of our strengths and beauty. Sometimes when we experience stress or unexpected change we can lose touch with a positive sense of self and the resources that allow us to thrive in a challenging world. A compassionate, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship strengthens our ability to move through some of our most challenging moments. Together, we will create the conditions for vulnerability and authenticity in a mutual effort to undergo the difficult work of personal transformation.

I have experience with a broad range of issues and encourage an honest, relationship-based approach to therapy. We work together to explore the issues most important to you. I believe that everyone is capable of change, though easy to say, it is very challenging to put into action. Therapy can create a safe space to reflect upon your world and history. It is a mindful process to accept and redefine yourself. It is a space to look at what parts are activated in your life and which parts feel quiet.

Lately, it seems the intimate spark between you and your partner is dim at best. Connecting positively has been tacked onto the long list of chores to do rather than being part of your relationship that fuels the fire. Maybe you're struggling with conflict, balancing life, knowing each of your needs, or a sex life that feels pleasurable. At best, you find yourself in an unsatisfying status quo. At worst, you find shame, anger, guilt, or sadness fighting over who takes center stage between the two of you. Regardless, you and your partner can no longer find each other in your intimate moments.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
