I have over 20 years experience in being one of Butte's 3 dually licensed professionals, meaning I am one of 3 counselors both a LAC and LCSW (therapist and addiction counselor). I received my chemical dependency training at the age of 21 (yes, I started young) at St Patrick Hospital Addiction Treatment Prog. in Missoula, MT. I believe that the best therapist is one that you can feel comfortable with, not feel judgement from and believe in their competency to assist you. With the assistance of my many years of being a counselor we will work closely together through the tears and laughter for you to be healthier on the other side.

At Opulence Mind Counseling and Consulting LLC , I believe people can change. Seeking support and professional guidance is the first step. As a licensed clinical professional counselor, I define my role as helping individuals or groups of people identify the loose puzzle pieces of their personal narrative that is causing very challenging and complicated issues. My clients discover ways to cope with feelings of anxiousness, guilt, insecurity, shame, regret, anger, loss, and pain that brought about brokenness. No one should be expected to handle difficult times alone. I help my clients every step of the way.

Life is full of uncertainties. Many of them can unexpectedly destabilize us, causing stress, despair, anxiety, and even depression. Such circumstances could prevent a mentally, physically, and emotionally healthy life, where hope for change is not visible. If you feel identified with this, I want to tell you that you are not alone. Seeking help is the first step in finding a way out and seeing the light among adverse/unexpected circumstances. Therapy helps you explore the causes, thoughts, emotions, and patterns that block and prevent you from moving forward. Together we can find the way out.

I have extensive experience as a counselor and marriage and family therapist.
I am dedicated to providing help for the hurting, in a safe and compassionate environment. We all have times when we could use a little help, but change is possible and can lead to a great life. I combine evidence-based, cutting-edge therapies intended to bring healing to the brain. These include LENs Neurofeedback, EMDR (I am an approved consultant), and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. As a 25-year military veteran, I have a solid understanding of issues experienced by military and veteran clients and their families, and a deep desire to provide veterans and first-responders with help.

Years later, family system of intimacy has surpassed other more limited models of marriage such as the Gottman communication and attachment approaches.
Julie is one of the most insightful, caring counselors showing keen insight into matters of love, affairs, childhood sexual abuse, with a big-hearted approach to heal emotional and physical scars of childhood and victimization. With couples, Julie encourages loving with abandon from a position of personal strength and solid self. She relies as much on 34 years marriage as she does on system interventions and textbook solutions. She is also talented counseling those with issues stemming from chronic diseases like diabetes, MS, and other auto-immune conditions. Julie loves counseling women ready to use kindhearted assertiveness.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
