Life can be challenging! I believe we were not made to go through it alone. You may need support coping with everyday stress or healing from a significant trauma. Maybe your tools no longer work the same and you want to try something new. You may want to gain more insight into how your physical, mental, and spiritual health are connected. Maybe you want someone to share your story with or support your personal growth journey.

Imagine therapy as renovating a house. You’ve got some rooms that could use a touch-up, maybe a few areas needing structural work, and the occasional leak to patch up. It can feel daunting, like taking on a renovation project without a blueprint. But rest assured, when you step into my office, it’s like hiring a seasoned contractor—I’m here to help you navigate the renovation process with expertise and a sprinkle of humor. The best part? I’m not here to swing the hammer for you. Think of me as your project consultant, offering guidance and support as you tackle each room of your life’s house.

Not accepting new clients
Are you tired of feeling constantly worried or held back by fear or negativity? I specialize in working with clients who feel stuck in their thoughts and habits. It's truly inspirational observing clients move into the change process and start living the lives they've imagined. My first priority as a therapist is helping clients feel heard and understand. Having a safe, confidential space to discuss your thoughts and feelings is the first step to feeling better. My second priority is to utilize an evidence-based treatment, often Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, to help clients learn skills they can use outside of my office.

Greetings and welcome. It’s great you are taking the time to be here. Our journey through life can be filled with an amazing variety of experiences; some we cherish and appreciate, while others leave us feeling hurt, stuck, or struggling. When life sometimes throw us curve balls and challenges we were never expecting, it can be really helpful to have a caring, compassionate person along with us.

Accepting new clients. Exploring tensions, suffering, or stuckness you may be experiencing takes courage. I honor and celebrate the opportunity to witness each individual’s process and show up as their collaborator. Humans are wired to be in connection and community, and it is through relationship that we can experience safety, growth, and empowerment.

We all experience times in our lives where we need a little extra support, empathy, compassion, and understanding. Navigating the ebb and flows of life can be tedious and can take a toll on your mind, body, and spirit. Working through the barriers that our work life and family life can present can be difficult.

She enjoys bringing humor and laughter into her work as it allows for clients to feel more at ease, build a connection, and find healing. She understands that starting therapy can be daunting and scary, but invites clients to ask questions and be curious about the therapeutic process. She views therapy as a time to support her clients and help them develop new coping skills and tools. She is looking forward to building connections with her clients and providing them a space where their voices can be heard and uplifted, can be seen, and they can be understood.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
