Whether you are clumsy, always “on the go”, have difficulty managing emotions and/or concentrating, or are sensitive to things like lights, sounds, food, or textures in clothing, occupational therapy may help with life’s day-to-day stressors. As an OT, I collaborate with children, adults, and their families to find and refine solutions for a more meaningful life. Using a client-centered approach, I use the strengths and interests of my client to help manage stress and improve areas of life that may be difficult.
Sensory-based therapy can change the way a person feels using the senses, and therefore, it may also be beneficial for those that have experienced trauma. Finding activities that are enjoyable and provide meaning can foster the road to healing by enhancing self-esteem and belonging in this sometimes difficult world.
