Hi! I'm Ryan, I am a counseling intern with a deep sense of care for people. I entered this profession as I felt this would be the best way for me to help others when they feel lost and hurt. I don't shy away from those who have seen more than their fair share of pain and suffering but rather welcome them with open arms. While I don't have much professional experience, I have an abundance of personal experience talking with people through their hurt and pain.

As a person and a therapist I work to see everyone as a unique individual who is striving to be the best person he/she can be. I believe issues and events create difficulties that block the progress. My goals are to assist adults, adolescents and children to work through those issues and events and help them continue on their personal journey to health and happiness. I like to help others discover their strengths, abilities and new skills to make individuals stronger and more resilient to work through whatever the universe sends our way.

I help survivors overcome past traumas in order to help them begin to heal. I started my career working in the world of non-profit mental health. It was during this time that I realized that we in the mental health community were often treating the wrong thing, our clients tended to be struggling with Trauma more than anything, but we’d be focused on substance use, depression, and anxiety. This would lead to stagnation, due to the real issues not being addressed. Due to this I focus on the treatment of core issues. I focus on what is holding someone back, and not just the symptoms that are caused by these bigger problems.

"Growth is painful, change is painful, but nothing is as painful as being stuck somewhere you don't belong." Life is a journey and oftentimes along our journey we go through difficult life transitions that can feel impossible to overcome. We may go through feelings of being stuck in the same emotional states, unhealthy relationships or communication patterns that leave us feeling empty and yearning for change. When our lives begin feeling this way, finding a positive support can be crucial in navigating these changes we need to feel better.

Overwhelming thoughts, negative beliefs about yourself, and painful life experiences can make you feel trapped in your mind, stuck in life, and not life yourself - ultimately keeping you from living a life that you love and desire. Going through this alone may cause you to feel unsure of your direction in life, experience unsettling anxiousness, and be in a constant battle of conflicting thoughts and feelings. I sit with my clients to help them heal their inner wounds, find their purpose, and regain clarity and confidence. I’ll be with you every step of the way through this process so that you can find joy, direction, and meaning.

It can be so difficult to enjoy a “normal” life when your mind is preoccupied with diet, weight, or the size and shape of your body. It’s hard to concentrate at work or school when you can’t stop fixating on your muffin top, and how many calories or “points” you have left for the day. You feel anxious when it comes to being around other people because you fear they’re judging you. You have no idea how you got into this vicious cycle, or how to get out. If this sounds like you, I can help you find your way to making peace with food and your body!

Gnôthi seautón. "Know thyself" (Aphorism inscribed over the entrance to the temple of Apollo at Delphi). The ancient philosophers already knew the importance of self-knowledge.. What to do with a difficult child, or with a teen whose behaviors pose real problems. How to keep a job, change one, or stay in school. What to do when identity is unclear, hope is lost, or in a crisis of faith. How to see with a partner a way of love and care. How to act in wisdom. When in need of relief from anxieties or pressures feeling too much to bear, one takes a brave and important step reaching out for qualified help. Working with a mental health professional, one can find integrity and meaning in the midst of pain. One can find healing and hopefulness for facing challenges. One can better understand their life.

My main focus is helping clients identify their stressors and learn different methods of coping. While people may share similar experiences, our reactions and perceptions are uniquely our own. Every person's journey is different and can be difficult. I will meet you where you are at emotionally, help you gain the insight to get where you want to be, and then assist in guiding you to get there.

My speciality and focus includes the whole body, and our ability to change. My current studies in this field, allow me to work with my clients through a more integrative approach. This approach uses science and psychotherapy to assist clients to find their own power to cope, change behaviors, and most importantly, heal.
