I work from the Humanistic Approach and the Existential theory of psychology.
Life can be difficult in a variety of ways and deciding to seek mental health support can be daunting. I aim to meet you where you are at in life and be present alongside you on your journey. Whatever path you are on, I am here to offer support along the way. I hope to help my clients reach empowerment to make positive changes in their lives. I believe in the abilities humans hold inside and find it important to validate their experience. Asking for support is a sign of real strength and reinforces the value of human connection. My belief is that the therapeutic process leads one to adapt, transform, accept, and grow within oneself.

For the most part, I use Person-Centered, Existential, Dialectical Behavior, and Mindfulness skills in my practice as a counselor.
It takes courage to address the problems in your life. You've already taken your first steps towards growth simply by identifying that something needs to change. My work as a counselor focuses on helping my clients understand themselves, as well as their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In this understanding can come acceptance, growth, and healing.

I offer therapy that draws from a variety of approaches (person-centered, humanistic, experiential, existential), and is trauma and attachment informed.
Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by stress, depression, anxiety, or a disturbing experience. Maybe there's a part of you that is questioning your self-worth or feeling trapped in old patterns. Whatever it is, you're feeling that you want to take a deep-dive and grow toward increased peace and a more authentic you. Change is possible and you don't have to keep feeling stuck. Therapy is a collaborative process that offers a confidential, safe space to do this work.

I believe that simply being truly listened to can be powerful and transformative. Beyond that, many come to counseling to process past traumas and experiences, change behaviors, or develop new, healthier coping skills. While I use an eclectic approach to counseling that draws from techniques grounded in behavioral and existential theories, my ultimate goal is to tailor the experience for the unique person you are.

Other than SIP I have interests in Existential therapy, Person Centered therapy, and am looking to work with Psychedelics as the current research and legislation continues to move forward.
Offering a discount for student clients at this time! My goal is to make my office a safe space for individuals to heal, explore, and grow through collaboration between two humans. We all encounter daily life in different ways and as a therapist my job is to see your world and understand it the best I can. I hope to meet you where you are and move forward with you on your journey of healing and exploration. Everyone deserves to be heard while working through the challenges that life throws at them. I have spaces open for teen clients at this time.

I know what it's like to feel broken, hopeless, and alone. I also know how it feels to come out of a season like that. One of my greatest passions is to walk alongside others facing challenges that they feel unequipped to handle. It takes courage to ask for help, especially with the negative stigma attached to therapy. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space to help adults and children find the strength to move forward. Wherever it is that you find yourself, know that you are not meant to go through it alone.

As a therapist I hope to create a space in which clients feel comfortable to explore their concerns. I believe that it is possible to live a life of balance in which stress and distress feel like something to cope with rather than something that overwhelms or overshadows the possibilities in life. I want to support learning and discovery in a genuine way with acceptance and empathy. My goal for you is that you leave therapy with more information about yourself and the skills needed to maintain change.

Change is hard and we are only motivated to change when we become uncomfortable with our current situation. Change also requires risk, commitment and hard work; I am looking for clients who are ready to take tangible steps towards change, personal growth, and mental health improvement using a telehealth platform that allows you to remain in the safety and comfort of your own environment, with no time wasted for travel. I’m accepting clients who reside in Missouri and flexible scheduling is offered. Call or email me for a free consultation to see if I’d be a good fit for you and your mental health goals.

The world can be a very difficult place. So many of us have experienced trauma and deal with depression, anxiety, panic, suicidal ideation, and other painful symptoms of imbalance in our minds and bodies. We want more from life than that. We want to form connections and experience joy. We want healing and balance in our lives.

Things may not turn out the way we think they should be. Situations outside of our control occur and can knock us off of our feet. Relationships can be difficult to navigate. Whether it be from past familial trauma, current familial issues, work burnout, chronic diagnoses or terminal illness, issues within the relationship, the struggles of parenting (especially special needs children), traumatic birth experiences, or life transitions, I am here to help you navigate through all of this and more.

My ideal client resonates with at least one of the following statements: 1) You are often told how smart you are, but you think you’ve just managed to fool everyone and are worried that one day they’ll see the “real” you. 2) You are a naturally excitable and passionate person, even if you don’t always show it on the outside. 3) People often tell you to “stop thinking about it so much,” but your thoughts don’t stop. You’re not sure you could even imagine a mind where nothing is happening. My clients want to feel like they know themselves, have confidence, and that past negative experiences do not determine who they are.

It turns out, being a person is actually pretty hard sometimes! Struggling with relationships or intense feelings? Feeling lost or lonely? Whether you're ready to start exploring yourself more deeply or wish to learn to better connect with others, therapy is a great place to begin practicing. Most of my clients struggle with complex trauma and/or overwhelm, and are searching for help in better knowing and caring for themselves. I also enjoy working with those that may be neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, BPD, etc.)

How does existential therapy work?
Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.
Is existential therapy evidence-based?
Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.
How long does existential therapy last?
The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.
Is existential therapy effective?
According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
