I specialize in working with children and adolescent using creative counseling modalities (e.g., sand play, bibliotherapy, and creative therapeutic techniques), across a multitude of diagnoses and behavioral issues. I believe that for children or adolescents to make meaningful change, they must learn skills by seeing, hearing, and doing them. Additionally, I recognize the importance of parental involvement in the treatment process and provide important tools for parent to use with their child in the home.

We have a mission of providing comfort, safety, and respect to those coming from hopeless situations - including trauma, sexual abuse, substance abuse, sexual addictions, criminal activity, delinquency, behavioral issues, parenting issues, and marital problems. I believe that it is important to focus on the here and now, emphasizing future actions, behaviors, and thoughts, rather than deeply exploring the past. While the past has brought us where we are today, how you believe today and how you act today is of more importance. I believe in being directive and intentional in all aspects of therapy.

As a certified trauma therapist, I believe it is my privilege to work through these emotions with my clients to provide hope and work together toward healing. My therapeutic practice is based on the client's individual needs. I believe that there is no one model to fit all people and the therapy should be molded to the client's individual goals.

I enjoy working with people who are experiencing difficult life issues, often related to relationships and/or cultural expectation of who they "should" be. I support individuals and couples who are stuck in a moment of confusion, grief, hopelessness, or despair, helping them figure out how to manage difficult challenges. I particularly appreciate opportunities to work with those in the process of exploring gender identity and sexual orientation, racial identity, and acute life/work crises such as grief, loss, and other traumas, including critical events.

Change is possible and hope always exists. I create a therapeutic environment of acceptance with no judgement so that change and growth can occur. My ideal client will realize that something in their life is not working and they want to figure it out and make things better. They want to experience happiness, purpose and peace in their life. Taking that first step toward counseling is challenging but benefits will include increased self-esteem, better relationships, a clearer understanding of self, increased productivity and a greater ability to deal with stress.

It can be difficult trusting someone with your precious emotions and challenging experiences but the growth will be worthwhile.
