I have been licensed to provide therapy services over 22 years and realize every one's difficulties are unique. History is important and impacts how we view today, and in today's busy and often uncaring world, people need to be listened to and provided the opportunity to talk about their needs and how life is impacting them. They also are looking for solutions.

Specific experience and skills center around facilitating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EFT for couples counseling, and emotional based approaches.
Having 20 + years of experience in the counseling field, I enjoy helping people improve marriage and family relationships, and I am passionate about working alongside individuals to overcome anxiety, depression, ADHD, and sexual addiction. I believe in the importance of a positive client-therapist relationship for making the counseling experience a success. Often, this can happen in a short-term time frame. From a therapeutic perspective, I bring in both Christian principles and psychology into my practice and help identify personal strengths and solutions for creating treatment goals.

Transformation is possible and I will always meet you where you are by working to develop a trusting relationship in which you feel heard and truly seen.
Life can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate at times, especially when significant changes and traumatic events leave us feeling lost, alone, and undone. These circumstances can impact the way we view ourselves, others, and the world around us, especially when the tools we have do not seem to provide relief from the stresses of life and the feelings that accompany them. I can help guide your mental health journey so you can get back to focusing on the things that matter most. Together, we can learn to manage the challenges of life.

I currently see individuals and couples and have a strong dedication to working with neurodiverse populations.
Life can be messy, and it is okay to not be okay; but you do not have to face life’s challenges alone. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I believe counseling should be a supportive and compassionate collaboration in which clients are accepted where they are in the present and are valued as the experts of their experiences. Life doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and I will work closely with individuals to consider their relationship with their environments in order to explore areas of strength as well as areas for potential growth.

I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor of therapy.
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, a relationship or trying to heal from a traumatic experience. Perhaps you are experiencing grief and are feeling lost and confused. You may have something from your past that keeps coming up and seems to be holding you back. You may be here seeking help for a child or loved one. Regardless of what you are struggling with, I believe you are your own expert. I want to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to share your feelings and experiences as you grow as your own healer.

I offer treatment for couples suffering from the effects of infidelity.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I understand the importance of identifying a professional that can best help you with your current challenges. For that reason, I would like to take a minute and briefly share my beliefs about counseling. Our close relationships are often the sources of our greatest joy and most intense pain. Couples counseling can provide a space to address a relationship's perpetual problems. I believe that any relationship can heal with commitment and willingness to change. I have a passion for helping couples achieve lasting connection and satisfying relationships.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
