I work with the healers and helpers who not only have seen the worst in their work, but also have a personal history of trauma. So many in the healing and helping professions have painful backgrounds that have fueled their fire to care for others. Healers experience some of the worst and most rampant burnout which can stem from a number of places including vicarious trauma and having past traumas triggered by clients, systems, and the overall work. Move from an inner place of fear, imposter syndrome and co-dependency to a place of inner security.

I am informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as a basis for emotional processing and behavior change. I am deeply committed to respecting each person's individual experience and work to identify tools and interventions that fit the needs of each person. I believe in an integrative health model exploring the mind, body and environment. I believe that exploring the use of mindfulness techniques can have powerful positive effects with individuals who are open. My aim is to support individuals into awareness of their personal strengths and to encourage growth and healing from within, despite the external circumstances.

Since you have found yourself here, reading this, I will assume that you are one of the 7.9 billion humans on this planet struggling to make sense of our crazy world. Maybe you have found yourself feeling overwhelmed by sadness and stress. Maybe the pandemic has left you feeling anxious and alone. Maybe your relationship is bringing you more pain than joy. Maybe you have a sense that there is something more to be discovered about yourself. No matter what you are going through, you should know that you are not alone!

Are you depressed, anxious with panic attacks, self-harming, angry, and/or distressed from past or current abuse/trauma? Or you may have "church-hurt" or other hurtful situations. Well, there is hope. As a Trauma-Informed therapist I know that your path can get heavy. But you are still unique and can still Awaken to Every Opportunity For You and become a better version of yourself. You do count, you matter and there are new Awakenings everyday!

As your therapist my goal is to help you work through whatever is in the way to the life you’ve always envisioned, tapping into your unrestrained potential. The “work through” part is not just talk therapy; it will include incorporating EMDR therapy, IFS (parts work), attachment theory (EFT), ACT somatic approach - all of which are wholistic methods that allow to attend and process on three levels: body, emotions, and mind.

I am also informed on evidence based treatments for anxiety, depression, and low self esteem such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
When I was serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine, the comfort of someone speaking my language was immeasurable. Speaking your language is important to me. Whether it’s through humor, warmth, empathy, or directness, I strive to make therapy relieving rather than another foreign experience. When therapists discuss what type of therapy they do, is it just another set of abbreviations with absolutely no meaning? Let me be your translator. I deeply value education, so if you are unfamiliar with any of the therapies I list below, I will explain extensively as to how they work within session. If you like learning, I'm your person.

I am a licensed psychologist offering online therapy in 39 states. I am an integrative psychotherapist and bring curiosity, warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor to the therapeutic relationship. I consider societal and cultural influences while helping clients to explore their relationship/intimacy issues, sexuality, identity, struggles with depression, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns. I take a sex positive approach and am attuned to the needs of poly, non-monogamous, open, kink, and BDSM clients. I find Clients do best when they understand the science associated with their struggles and mental health.

When working with me, clients can expect to explore mind-body concepts and cognitive tools from methodologies like ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
The clients I serve are often in a moment of transition and are unsure what the path forward looks like. They are seeking clarity, as well as relief from their symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression and grief. Clients I enjoy working with understand that therapy extends beyond our scheduled time, and may include setting goals and practicing skills that grow reflection, insight and behavior change. I have seen that therapy and coaching can lead to greater self-understanding and a deeper, more dynamic framework for managing modern life and changing how we relate with ourselves and others.

Combining personal experiences, education, and training in EMDR, ACT, CBT, and certification in DBT, my mission is support balance, healing and success for you in your life.
On the outside, you look cool, calm and collected. On the inside...there is a whirling tornado of thoughts, sensations, emotions... You may be looking for guidance on your journey of learning the how's and why's behind the things you do and think. Maybe life can seem like a big, overwhelming, and never ending "to do" list that you are working hard to manage and looking for encouraging support to help you breathe, balance, decompress and re-focus. You are seeking a safe space to express yourself, collaborate and learn ways to cultivate self esteem, peace, and success with managing life.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
