I am certified in EMDR & love it because it helps clients finally shake loose self-limiting negative beliefs that keep them stuck (like ‘I’m not good enough’ and ‘nobody can be trusted’).
Life comes at you fast, and whatever you didn’t fix in 2023 will continue to hold you back in 2024! It’s time to take action. Stop carrying around the fear, sadness, anxiety, anger, shame, etc, that has been holding you back. Let’s face those issues head-on … I’ll help.

I use a base of somatic, attachment, EMDR, and IFS with most clients.
I want to commend you on taking the first step in this journey and I am honored to walk this path with you. It takes courage to look at yourself and explore patterns that have not been working for you and challenging yourself to create new patterns for your future. My practice is in helping people change ineffective relationship patterns, old beliefs, and unhealthy behaviors. I encourage all clients to get to the core of the underlying issues, while focusing on new ways of living. I believe in helping you get in touch with emotions and your body, so you can manage symptoms and enjoy a more peaceful, joyful, and productive life.

Mental health issues can manifest in unexpected ways. Do you experience unexplained irritability? Hyper-criticism of yourself and others? Mood swings without any clear cause? Feeling overwhelmed to the point of being unable to organize your day? If so, it's worth considering whether you may be struggling with trauma, anxiety, or depression. Perhaps you may be experiencing Relationship Trauma. Do you ever find yourself constantly questioning or doubting what you once believed to be true? Did everything seem perfect in the beginning, but now you can barely recognize the person in front of you?

As a sex addiction therapist, trained EMDR clinician, and nationally certified psychotherapist, I work with individuals struggling with intense urges, emotions, and conflict. New clients come to me feeling isolated, in pain, and on edge due to having nowhere to express their toughest thoughts and emotions. Many grew up in an arduous family of origin with messages like "Suck it up" and "Don't cry" being taught to them. My clients come to me to express the things that they couldn't say to anyone else.

I specialize in trauma and PTSD, anxiety, self-esteem, and the LGBTQIA+ community (especially a-spec folks) gain insight and overcome their struggles with tools like EMDR.
You've experienced things in your past that seem too horrible to be true. You feel like there must be something about you that makes all these bad things happen to you, and it hurts. "Normal" people don't deal with this stuff. Trusting others? Absolutely not. You'll get hurt if you do. Your emotions are on a hair trigger, and you don't know how to stop the anger, sadness, or anxiety spiral once it starts. Trauma and PTSD warp the world into a scary place. You don't have to navigate healing from this alone. Healing from trauma is not only possible, but also what our brains want to help us do. Often, we just need a little extra help.

I utilize EMDR & Somatic EMDR as tools in the healing process.
Are you troubled by negative or distressing thoughts & memories from the past or present? Have you experienced a trauma? Perhaps you find yourself "overreacting" to minor or non-incidents. Do others say you're "too sensitive"? Maybe you have lost someone or something and you're finding it difficult to move forward. You are in a battle to reclaim you're stability, freedom, joy, self-confidence, self-worth, self-control, or even a part of yourself. Somehow you have lost your way & you would give just about anything to get back to how life used to be. Or maybe you desire something even better than before. . . .

I use trauma-informed, evidence-based theoretical approaches including Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), and I am also well-versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and EMDR.
Do you ever feel like you’ve been fighting an internal battle with yourself? Do you notice that the more you try to force yourself to stop thinking and feeling a certain way, the more unmanageable it becomes? What if I told you that you could let go of this struggle and instead use that energy to focus on what is most important to you in your life? I know this may sound impossible, but in our work together I will teach you how to change your relationship with your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and self so you can get back to living the life you want and deserve.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
