I have extensive experience working with adolescents and adults in navigating life and accompanying changes. Challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, are made easier when we partner together to explore those experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

Talking to a therapist is hard; all those emotions are difficult, and being strong all the time for those around you is exhausting. I get it, and I want to make it easier for you. I use interactive techniques that do not leave you sitting on the couch, staring, and not knowing what to say. You came looking at this site for a reason; I believe the reason is that you have suffered long enough and are ready to make a change. Change is scary; you are not alone. I'll be there with you as you make the change. Give me a call.

Nothing you do seems to help you get out of this. You feel as if you are running in place, repeating yourself. It is time for another cook in the kitchen so to speak. I do not just want to be another person telling you things will be alright or it is fine; just push through. Whether it be depression, anxiety, family adjustment issues, or trauma related issues I am here to help you realize an internal strength you inherently possess.

My work with children/adolescents includes: anxiety, depression, behavior concerns, and coping with family, peer, or life issues.
Accepting New Patients --- Taking the step to begin therapy is a brave choice. I understand that it frequently comes at a time of vulnerability when emotional pain or life problems are intense. As a therapist, I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to begin understanding life circumstances that are creating concerns for you. I approach therapy as a collaborative process and understand the importance of trust and empathy in the therapeutic relationship. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and I work with people of all ages.

I also have extensive training and experience with LBGTQ related issues, including but not limited to areas related to questioning, sexual orientation and gender identity, coming-out, family relationships, generational differences, multiple-minority identities, workplace issues, and transitioning.
In Psychotherapy, it is the relationship between the patient and the therapist that allows for the patient to search for understanding into the nature of their difficulties. It is within the safety, confidentiality and understanding acceptance that the patient is encouraged to reveal intimate parts of themselves that allow the therapist to identify characteristic problems and patterns of behavior. Seemingly unexplainable behavior, thought patterns and symptoms turn out to have identifiable meanings beyond the awareness of the patient. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is aimed at personality changing goals and symptom relieving efforts. The patient is always in control of the therapeutic process.

I am a sex therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Missouri and Virginia, who is a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Family Counselor (CFT), and a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist (CGCS).
As we live, we write the stories of our lives. Sometimes the pen gets too heavy. Sometimes we don’t know where to start… or how to continue. And then there’s writer’s block, the faltering of the creative process somewhere in our hearts, our minds, our bodies producing dis-orders and dis-eases. Maybe you have lost a Loved one. Maybe you’re starting a new relationship. Maybe you want a new job. Maybe you just want change. I believe the remedy is in the beliefs/feelings, thoughts, and behaviors fueling the writer’s block or dis-ease, and I am a dis-ease specialist.

Marunong akong magsalita ng Tagalog at naiintindihan ko ang hirap ng immigration, family separation, at asimilasyon sa kultura dito sa U.
You might be feeling gravity pulling you down, or fighting hard to keep afloat. Your friends and family might not understand, and you feel like all you have is yourself in your corner. You have been working hard to keep yourself safe–but what if you didn’t have to work so hard anymore? Let me be someone to offer a moment of relief, companionship, and compassion.

Our next step is figuring out what “help” means for you or your family, together, in a co-created and nonjudgmental space of emotional safety, based on you or your family's specific history, situation, values, and style.
I'm passionate about helping adults and couples find healing, empowerment, growth, and meaning in their lives. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, relationship and attachment issues, life transitions, and grief. I'm especially dedicated to working with LGBTQIA+ and nonmonogamous clients. I practice from a humanistic standpoint, integrating psychodynamic, behavioral, and mindfulness-based strategies drawn from a variety of approaches in order to personalize therapy to the individual client’s values, goals, and strengths.

Extensive training in various approaches means she can provide families with optimal treatment options best suited for their individual family.
Your relationship with yourself is reflected in interactions with family, friends, colleagues, professional life and your worldview. How do you seek, expect and provide attunement to yourself and important others? Often unrecognized inter-generational relational themes play a part in the manner by which one seeks connection. Attachment and relational patterns meant to gain closeness can mean one feels known & accepted or invisible & rejected. You can learn to listen to yourself with open-minded curiosity in order to identify your relational style, understanding how it supports or hinders you in life.

All this business of being human is downright hard. Maybe you are a grown adult who sometimes feels like a child on the inside, with needs and demands that make you feel weak and ashamed. Maybe you're so busy caring for others that you don't have the chance to truly care for yourself. Maybe you're lonely in your relationship or within your family. Maybe you're cautiously considering making a huge change in your life and having doubts. We all want to find peace and clarity, and to escape the stream of negative self-criticism that churns inside of us. We all have a fundamental human need to feel connected, accepted and understood.

I currently work with clients age 12 through adult offering individual, family, and couple's counseling.
The first step to change is deciding you are ready. Life is beautiful, but it can also be hard. If things feel out of control, you aren't reaching your goals, or you simply need someone to talk to, therapy might be for you. In my practice, I aspire to help each of my clients better understand their struggles, set goals, and begin the often difficult work of growth through an eclectic, client-centered approach that focuses on strengths and solutions and incorporates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I also have trainings in Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT), ABFT specific LGBTQ+ Adolescents, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Multidimensional Family therapy.
I believe people are more than their diagnosis. Yes, a diagnosis is a tool but it is not the big picture. I come from a place of curiosity and wonder, wanting to know my clients on a deeper level so that I can help them navigate this world. For example, PTSD is a big diagnosis that is thrown around; yet, it doesn't paint the full picture. It doesn't reflect someone's experiences, triggers, how this is impacting their relationships, family history, the strengths they possess etc. Adolescents are my passion however, I also enjoy and work closely with families and adults.

As a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I am confident I can guide you to truly understand yourself, appreciate the parts of you that do their very best to protect you, and offer them a new way.
No matter how hard you try, you feel like you aren't good enough. You are trying so hard to figure out how to make everything fall into place, but you just can’t find the solution. You try to be everything to everyone, but there is a part of you that knows this really isn’t working. You are scared there might be something wrong with you. You are ready for relief; you just really want life to feel easier. Yet, you aren’t sure if that is possible, or how others would react if you did change. You learned this way of being because you had to.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
