I'm an Individual & Family Therapist licensed since 2005. My background includes 12 years (2005-2017) working full-time in long-term inpatient programs for teens as a therapist & training director before I opened a private practice in 2017. My advanced training allows me to treat a broad scope of issues but I don't pretend to specialize in everything! Specializing only in: 1) Teens / Young adults, 2) Parenting & 3) Christian counseling. I have 20+ years of student ministry & ministry leadership experience. My career in residential care has trained me to treat the toughest challenges teens, young adults, & families can face.

Through Play Therapy, children are able to heal from distressing events such as, but not limited to, trauma, grief and loss, divorce, depression, adoption, foster care and attachment issues; and to improve in myriad areas such as impulse control, emotional regulation, ADHD, OCD, and ODD. As your child’s therapist, my goal is to enable children to heal, so that they are empowered to “rise and shine” to their highest potential.

The decision to see a counselor may be intimidating or overwhelming. Sometimes we need to seek help outside family and friends. It is not easy to walk through the door and talk to a complete stranger. I want you to know, I have been where you are right now, and I hope you will reach out. I work with individuals who struggle with abandonment/trauma/abuse. I also work with couples who struggle with communication/infidelity/trust/conflict resolution. Investing in yourself and your relationships will be the most important investment of your lifetime.

It sometimes feels easier to seek support for physical challenges than for emotional ones, especially if we are used to thinking that we should be able to handle our feelings and challenges on our own. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Many of the adult and child clients who see me struggle with low self-esteem, anxiety and worry, impulse control, organization/planning/distractibility/sensory challenges, feeling easily overwhelmed, and peer or relationship challenges. They hope to experience less chronic overwhelm, burnout, fewer relationship conflicts, more emotional regulation, and more joy.

Sometimes life can be just a little too much. Too much stress from work, social media, pandemic changes, too many people, or expectations you can't seem to live up to. I offer a safe space free of judgment and discrimination, yet full of conscious cultural competence to help you find your way to feeling comfortable in what can seem like an uncomfortable world.

I am grateful to have been a part of helping so many individuals, couples, and blending families resolve their issues over the past 35 years. While the experience has honed my therapy skills, each new person or relationship is unique and requires exploring solutions that fit their individual personality.
