In addition, I can help to process trauma or plan for a positive future using EMDR.
Life can be full of joy, even with all the stress of the day to day. Working towards building skills to support a life worth living is the main goal I have for my clients. I love working with couples who are trying hard to make things work and keep experiencing conflict. Using the Gottman method, I help to give specific skills to apply to their relationship and end the gridlock. I also really enjoy teens who are struggling with finding their way. They hold a special place in my heart and I love seeing them grow and feel more confident in who they are.

Having been on this journey for many years, I have seen firsthand the emotional rollercoasters that anxiety, trauma, and addictions can induce.
My ideal client grapples with anxiety, trauma, or addictions. They span across all age groups, from adolescents to the elderly. At the core of their struggle is a fervent desire for serenity and self-acceptance. Their ultimate goal isn't just to find relief but to also embrace transformative change. They're actively seeking not just a momentary reprieve but a sustained peace, and with the right guidance, they aspire to cultivate a life of calm and understanding.

I use evidence-based trauma treatments.
I work with survivors of sexual abuse and assault, betrayal trauma, and those affected by anaphylactic food allergies. People who've experienced these traumas often begin feeling a sense of losing control over their lives. I want you to know that you can heal from trauma and I can help you with that process. I will work with you to figure out how to mange anxiety, fear, sleep and relationship problems or any other symptoms you're experiencing. We can then work together to decide which approach to trauma processing is best for you.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and your therapist should feel like your teammate helping you achieve your goals. I primarily work with adults experiencing a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, and/or interpersonal issues from family and relationships. I believe that mental health requires focusing not only on our thoughts and emotions, but also on our physical health and social relationships. I enjoy working collaboratively with clients because I understand that therapy must take a unique path for each individual.

I am a seasoned clinician who, for over 35 years, has empowered clients to lead more meaningful and productive lives. If you suffer from anxiety, trauma, or depression, or if you find interpersonal relationships to be challenging and unsatisfying, talking with an experienced psychotherapist can drastically improve the quality of your life. Therapy is an opportunity to gain insight into the workings of your mind, to better understand how your internal reality shapes your external one (and vice versa). If some introspection has opened you to the possibility of therapy, the chances are already very good that you would benefit from it.

You may find me appropriate if you are seeking emotional resilience, self-acceptance, or harmony in your relationships. I work primarily with adults and couples impacted by life transitions, trauma, grief, or internal conflict.

I am honored to work with individuals and couples experiencing challenges resulting from trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational difficulties.
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or carrying the weight of abuse and trama through life. Issues like these weigh you down as you continue to fulfill your roles at work, at home, and in your relationships. These struggles may be new to you, or you may have carried them alone for years. Perhaps you've even reached out for help but not yet found the right fit, yet you long to break through these challenges and feel like yourself again.

I have several years of experience working with LGBTQ+ and trans individuals to access gender affirming care, communicate needs and boundaries to others and heal from past relational trauma.
When I began my Clinical Psychology degree, I was all about the research, the brain science and the data behind the practice. I still nerd out over the "brain stuff," but in my years of practice, I have come to appreciate the more human side, the things that we just can't measure. I believe that one of the most important aspects of the work is helping people navigate the pain and uncertainty of being a human, the longing to fit in, to feel safe, understood and to love and be loved. Unpacking our trauma and shame can be a lifelong project and I am honored to join my clients on their journey.

I work with individuals, couples, and families from a Person Centered and Trauma Informed approach.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages that are open to honesty, transparency and the process of change. It can be difficult to reach out to others for support. There are many facets of our lives that prompt the need to develop additional coping skills and boundaries to navigate through life. I am open to assist in that process.

I believe everyone deserves to make sense, have a safe space to explore who they are and want to be, and figure out how to exist in the world they experience. I love to work with the LGBTQIA+, BIPOC/Multi-Racial, and athlete community. Traumas, generational trauma, relationships we have with everything around us, expectations/pressures, and oppressive systems can impact our sense of self, belonging, agency, and safety. Together we can work through your thoughts, feelings, emotions, judgements, sensations, beliefs, and memories to find your sense of self beneath the hard times you have endured.

I've studied in depth and continue to study Attachment, Trauma, and Gestalt and Body-Centered Therapy, the theories that show that persons who suffer PTSD, psychiatric and emotional problems in adulthood have suffered abuse and neglect in their childhood.
Did you feel neglected and unloved when you were a child? Did you feel lonely and ostracized if you tried to tell your parents or other adults about your feelings or if you tried to ask them questions about life? In your adult life, do you have difficulty relating to others? Do you feel depressed and alienated from others? Do you have difficulty knowing your own feelings or how you feel in your own body? Are you afraid to trust yourself, to be yourself? I've worked for 20 years with adults abused, traumatized, and/or neglected in childhood. .

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
