Living each day with intention can energize and fulfill us while enhancing the lives of those around us. Intentional living begins with letting go of emotional pain. By examining our present life we can determine if the life we are living today is the life we want or is it one based on our old way of thinking and feeling. With the prescriptive eclectic approach to psychotherapy, the psychotherapist customizes treatment to the specific needs of individual patient. The end result of prescriptive matching is a more efficient, applicable, and efficacious therapy that meets the client's current needs.

I have enjoyed working as a partner in mental health and wellness for over 20 years. It is my hope that as I walk alongside the client he or she will recognize strengths, develop skills, and embrace healing. While I have specialized training in some complex issues, much of the work of a counselor is helping people deal with the everyday struggles most of us face on a daily basis.

Does it feel like your past has hijacked your present life? Are you struggling to find hope for peace and happiness? Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired? If you have answered yes to any of these questions...... I am so happy that you are here. Life can be so unpredictable and feel as if your feet have been knocked right from under you without warning. Sometimes to the point where you might think you will never stand steady again. There are many things that are out of our control, however, we can all learn tools that can help us manage and bring balance and healing to our lives restoring that sense of hope.

When working with clients, I strive to make the therapeutic experience genuine, positive, respectful, and safe. I believe that through talking and building a good connection, we can develop your therapeutic goals, and create a successful and obtainable plan. My work is focused around the ages 20-65, when personal goal, and family dynamics are constantly shifting and new roles are developing. This can feel very overwhelming, scary, and sometimes hopeless. You do not have to do this alone! We will work together around the topics of parenting, anxiety/depression, trauma/abuse, school/college, grief/life changes, or areas of interest.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
