There are so many persons struggling with low self-esteem/self-confidence, anxiety, a need to control the people and situations in their lives, a need to "please" or be the "peace maker", who are constantly driven to do more and be more, and who cannot seem to find joy and peace in their lives. These have definitely been issues in my life. At times I felt like I might go crazy. . .but I didn't know how to manage differently so that I could capture moments of peace and solace, without guilt!

I believe what people need the most is to feel better about themselves. An increased sense of self worth is what makes us feel like we are worth our own time and effort.

Seeking counseling is a huge first step and I am already proud of you for looking for the right therapeutic fit! When we have experienced childhood neglect and abuse, sexual trauma, or a life filled with uncertainty and instability, it may manifest into unhealthy behaviors and relationships in adulthood. Maybe you are struggling with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, emotion dysregulation, low self-esteem, or unhealthy coping behaviors. If so, we may be a great fit! Additionally, I work with those who have experienced betrayal trauma, DNA trauma, divorce, and spiritual/religious abuse.

Many teens and adults exploring their gender feel uncertain or alone. It might feel like those around you don’t (or won’t) get it, or you may be afraid to talk to them about it. You may still be learning who you are, and how to love yourself. I’ve been through this process personally, and I get it. There’s a lot going on, and a lot to understand. If you’re at this kind of important moment in your life, I’m here to be an accepting person to guide you through this time.

I help teens and adults who may be dealing with increased stress and anxiety due to life transitions, new relationships and responsibilities. I specialize in treating eating disorders, body image issues and maternal mental health. I’ve found that sometimes within transitions, we encounter moments when our usual ways of coping no longer serve us– how we’ve “always done things” simply isn’t working anymore. This can leave us feeling stuck, alone, and hopeless. The good news is that therapy can help, and I am privileged to join my clients on their path toward change.

Jungian analytic work understands that life is unpredictable. Everyone struggles at some point in life. Sometimes the accompanying suffering tears at the very fabric of our understanding of ourselves and how we fit in the world. Life no longer makes sense. Life is not the way you thought it would be or should be. Unbidden desires, anxieties or depression come in to interfere with your ability to live the life you want. Others in your life behave in ways that disrupt your peace of mind and ability to live a meaningful life. Issues you thought you had dealt with long ago resurface in the present.

Whether you are working to better manage anxiety or depression, or are currently navigating life changes, I am here to help. I am passionate about helping clients better understand their ‘Self’ through strengthening their self-worth and recognizing their resiliency. In addition to working with teenagers 16+ and adults of all ages, I love working with local college students, especially since I graduated from Mizzou (M-I-Z) not overly long ago. I remember the stress, anxiety, and daily grind it takes to navigate college and am here to help you do the same!

My ideal client is an individual who is dealing with low self-esteem, past trauma affecting current goals, coping skills, setting boundaries, family conflict, parental issues, anger management, etc. Some struggle with managing stress and expressing their feelings to others because of fear of judgment. They grew up in a household that strived for perfectionism, felt like a failure, and felt like they let people down. They have difficulty expressing their feelings to others because they fear judgment.

I believe there is healing in being seen and feeling heard. You deserve space and time to know yourself and explore who you want to be. The small parts of you that are begging to have a voice yet are hard to voice are welcome in our sessions. I will sit with you in your heavy spaces and you will not be alone.
