Whether you have postpartum depression, the baby blues, or are struggling to juggle all your kids needs with your own I am here every step of the way to listen, guide, and be there for you.
I would like to take a moment and commend you on taking the first step toward mental health. It takes a lot of courage to get this far and you are doing great. I am glad you have chosen to share some of your time with me and I look forward to getting to know you. My mission is to support moms in their daily struggles. When we meet, I will invite you to sit and get comfortable. Until then I hope you take this moment to take a breath and recognize you are not alone. I am here for you. I am a professional counselor and registered dance/ movement therapist, but more importantly, I am a mother. I have been where you are.

I specialize in supporting people who are struggling with ADHD and executive function, pregnancy and postpartum, infertility, life transitions, and relationship issues.
You're feeling stuck no matter what you do. You know something in your life needs to change, but you don't know what or where to even start. Maybe every day feels like another battle between your thoughts, values, actions, and impulses. Maybe you've been through difficult relationships and you are ready to create healthier connections, especially with yourself.

I have experience working with young adults and adults surrounding trauma/PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety, relationships, LGBTQIA+ identity exploration, perinatal mental health, life transitions, and eating disorders.
Life moves so quickly! We seldom take time to pause, reflect, and observe the beauty in and around us. Instead, we tend to ruminate about the past or obsess about the future, robbing us of present moment awareness. Therapeutic space provides the unique opportunity to remedy this —if we can simply be present, we learn to work meaningfully with the thoughts and emotions which arise, and we find direction and new possibilities. My hope is to be a source of safety, insight, and clarification as we help you find your way.

On paper, your life looks great. In reality, you wake up after another sleepless night spent overanalyzing a chat with a coworker. You open your calendar and panic. Weeks ago, you agreed to a party tonight that you had no interest in going to, just so you didn't disappoint your friend. Now, you start scouring your mind for excuses to back out. After landing on a decent (yet untrue) excuse you go to text your friend and are met by a crushing number of unread texts that have accumulated for weeks. It’s exhausting keeping up with everyone AND juggling work, never-ending to-do lists and adulting. You wonder why everything feels so hard.

You’re a woman, mom, or therapist, who’s tried therapy in the past. You felt understood and supported but you don’t feel different. You may even feel like the expert on your quirks and foibles. But this pain feels trapped inside your body and mind. When the past comes up, when stressed, and harmful family dynamics arise you tense up, cry, try to control the situation, feel afraid, feel small, shut down, isolate, get defensive, and disconnect. You desperately want to release this pain to live, parent, and experience life differently than you were raised. You want to take care of yourself, your family, and others and feel connected.

Do you feel like no matter what you do it’s never good enough? Even though you’re working hard, you’re pushing forward, you feel inadequate and unseen? Do you often feel overwhelmed and exhausted? Are you getting stuck in cycles of thought that bring you down and make you feel out of touch with yourself? It's so exhausting. You just wish you could make the people in your life understand the burden you're carrying. What if you could just be your authentic self and experience joy more often?

I believe we all have the capacity to improve our lives and understand ourselves more fully. It takes a great deal of courage to ask for help. Appreciating and respecting that courage, my work is to help my clients attain their goals. We do this together as a team. Being stuck personally or professionally is poignantly uncomfortable. Together we can move thru and beyond this state and get to the other side. To address your individuality I utilize a wide array of interventions: mindfulness-based talk therapy, somatic techniques, art therapy, music therapy.

Welcome! Do you feel overwhelmed, dismissed, or undervalued? Are you looking for more meaningful connection? Persistent exposure to stress can show up in our bodies, our work ethic, our social interactions, sleep habits and so much more. Whether it's a chronic health issue, recent or past trauma, grief, or relationship conflict, you don't have to experience it alone. I have an integrative and person-centered approach that uses the therapeutic relationship to rebuild connection to yourself, others and the world.

The act of seeking support takes tremendous courage and is a powerful way to take care of yourself. I approach the therapeutic process with this in mind. Over the course of my career working with Individuals, Families, and Communities, I have gained expertise and enjoyment collaborating with people as they navigate and struggle through life's challenges. I believe that healing becomes more accessible when we are not alone in our suffering.

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
