For the past decade I have worked as a therapist. I work from a trauma-informed and psychodynamic persoective. I believe in fostering an open, respectful space in which to explore thoughts, feelings, desires—in which anything can be talked about. I have particular experience addressing anxiety, trauma, and depression; life transitions; and concerns related to identity. That said, I enjoy working with people on a range of issues. I have found a particular affinity for working with creative people, academics, doctors, and those passionate about their work; those who feel particularly sensitive; and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Many of the people who work with us are trying to find ways of controlling the emotions swirling around them, but it just feels like trying to grasp at sand in a sandstorm - the particles smacking them in the face, blurring their vision of the world, and causing them to flail about in futile attempts to stop the storm. Emotions similarly can cloud judgment and lead us to lash out in futile attempts to stop the pain. The more we try to control the whipping winds, the more energy we waste. We believe the key to surviving the storm is to accept its existence and skillfully cope with it.

I specialize in helping critically-thinking women, sexual and gender minorities, and nontraditional couples who have already overcome so much, but find that something keeps holding them back. I help people decidedly outside the mainstream, who aren't looking for a professional to fit them back into conformity. I work best with individuals and couples who already have some practice with self-reflection but you now need a fresh perspective and stronger support. I enjoy helping diverse people, in terms of relationship style, abilities, brain type, or cultural identities. I also specialize in recovery from cults or narcissistic abuse.

Sometimes, life can send us down a path that we never expected to be on. Often the unexpected path can leave us feeling lost, isolated, and hopeless. Whatever it is that started you down this path, know you do not have to walk alone. I utilize a collaborative approach to help clients move along this unexpected path and overcome challenges along the way. The true joy is seeing clients recognize that while this path isn't one, they would have set out on their own, there are truly beautiful steps taken on their journey to healing.

This is a common pattern in many couples’ relationships and maybe this describes you: prior to getting married, you had a dream. A dream that your relationship would be like the ones portrayed in romantic movies, a life of bliss because you found your perfect person. Then, at some point in your marriage, you asked this question: “How did we get here?” Instead of a foundation of joy and security, you and your spouse find yourselves stuck in conflict cycles that leave you feeling bitter, distant, and hopeless.

Welcome and thank you for considering me to support you along this journey. Throughout my experience, I learned that the best way to help clients who feel pressured during therapy is to get them excited for the process of communicating their feelings. I do this through incorporating several expressive therapies as alternative methods to traditional talk therapy.

A little about me... I couldn’t survive without my assortment of To Do lists. Somehow I manage to surprise myself again and again by not completing the lengthy tasks I hoped to cross off my lists. I wish I prioritized time in nature, self-care, and getting together with friends. The frenetic pace of our modern “grind culture” is a force I find challenging to resist. Despite having book knowledge on anxiety, I still have panicky moments. Through my own therapy, I am unlearning the message of hustling for my worth and aiming to embrace my limitations. I have come to learn that my triggers often end up being my best teachers.
