Our therapists specialize in providing evidence-based behavioral therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), and EMDR.
Many of the people who work with us are trying to find ways of controlling the emotions swirling around them, but it just feels like trying to grasp at sand in a sandstorm - the particles smacking them in the face, blurring their vision of the world, and causing them to flail about in futile attempts to stop the storm. Emotions similarly can cloud judgment and lead us to lash out in futile attempts to stop the pain. The more we try to control the whipping winds, the more energy we waste. We believe the key to surviving the storm is to accept its existence and skillfully cope with it.

I have advanced training in several evidence-based treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Metallization Based Treatment (MBT).
Making the decision to seek therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness. Getting help during a difficult time can ease the burdens one carries during times of high stress and transition. Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Addiction and Self-Destructive Behaviors are real problems, yet with the right treatment you can expect to experience meaningful recovery and growth. In therapy, we work collaboratively to reduce the impact the symptoms or behaviors have on your life and build coping strategies and resiliency.

I specialize in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with people that may have difficulties controlling their emotions and impulses and therefore may find it hard to keep relationships.
As a scientist that has worked for a decade in drug metabolism research, both in Italy and the US, I always attempt to utilize evidence based interventions with my clients. When dealing with 'softer' sciences surrounding the mental health field, the best course of treatment is often difficult to ascertain. I strive to provide a collaborative, empirical, transparent process which adopts the best evidence based approaches to your unique, personal treatment needs. I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and working with you!

As an Art Therapist (ATR), I support the mental health needs of my clients through a balance of traditional therapeutic techniques (such as Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Internal Family Systems, and Person-Centered therapies) and the creative, collaborative, and intuitive approach of Art Therapy. I work with clients from childhood through adulthood. Some people may be surprised to hear that you can do Art Therapy via telehealth, but I've found that being able to engage in therapy from the comfort and safety of your own home can be as healing (if not more) than being in person.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
