Jungian analytic work understands that life is unpredictable. Everyone struggles at some point in life. Sometimes the accompanying suffering tears at the very fabric of our understanding of ourselves and how we fit in the world. Life no longer makes sense. Life is not the way you thought it would be or should be. Unbidden desires, anxieties or depression come in to interfere with your ability to live the life you want. Others in your life behave in ways that disrupt your peace of mind and ability to live a meaningful life. Issues you thought you had dealt with long ago resurface in the present.

My ideal client is an adult, couple, or family that has experienced loss or trauma and wants to feel connected to themselves, those they love, and their community again. The individual/s may be experiencing extreme anxiety, irritability, or depression and have been trying to keep picking themselves up, but are tired and concerned about what their future holds. They often find themselves using a variety of means to numb such as eating, substance use, gambling, pornography, sex, video games, etc. They experience emptiness and feel that they really have no sense of who they are or what they want and often feel alone and disconnected.

Change is hard for everyone. When we are stuck in patterns of behavior, sometimes it can be hard to decide how to take steps to break those patterns. I believe that taking even one small step can make a big impact on our thoughts and feelings. My goal is to help clients take action to break patterns of behavior that are no longer beneficial. I want to help clients identify small sustainable strategies that can help develop and maintain positive changes.

Talking to a therapist is hard; all those emotions are difficult, and being strong all the time for those around you is exhausting. I get it, and I want to make it easier for you. I use interactive techniques that do not leave you sitting on the couch, staring, and not knowing what to say. You came looking at this site for a reason; I believe the reason is that you have suffered long enough and are ready to make a change. Change is scary; you are not alone. I'll be there with you as you make the change. Give me a call.

If you know something needs to change, but feel lost and unsure of where to begin, you're not alone. Life can be challenging, and most people aren't given all the tools they need to be successful. It can leave you feeling emotionally overwhelmed and exhausted by everything you're trying to manage. I believe in the power of transformation and growth. My approach centers around helping you repair what's within your control and develop resilience against what isn't. Life's unpredictability can test us, but together, we'll work on building your inner strength and navigating all that comes your way.

My ideal client would be anyone who is open to exploring the therapy process and looking inward. I have a lot of clients who are challenging unhelpful beliefs, thoughts, and emotions to better their day to day lives. Anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma experiences are common with my clients and we work together to manage symptoms and seek a broader understanding of these experiences.

Life can be challenging at all stages! In my work with late teens to adults, I have found a common denominator: they have all the potential within themselves to be who they want to be, but got lost along the way. I work with you to fight the urge to be perfect and do everything "right." Do you want to feel confident in your job? What direction to go in your sport? Decide if this relationship is right for you? Want to feel comfortable and confident in your body? Improve your relationship with food? Process trauma related to an eating disorder or relationship? If you're in one of these stages, we might be a good fit!

My therapy style is solution focused, person-centered and holistic. I tailor my work with each client based upon each individual's specific needs, goals and interests. I do not believe that only one type of therapy will work for every client; therefore I use a blend of therapies in my work with each individual. I offer individual and family counseling, parent education and therapeutic supervised visits. My therapy office is welcoming and comfortable, which fosters the ability for individuals and families to feel safe as they explore their concerns and prepare to heal.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
