I may incorporate the following therapeutic styles into our sessions: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems & Motivational Interviewing.
First, I would like to say welcome and congratulate you on taking the necessary steps to getting the care, attention and support you deserve! I personally know from previous experience that these first steps can sometimes feel the most difficult; but with encouragement, determination and perseverance, you will be revealed as the conqueror you already are!

Change can be overwhelming at times. Sometimes the change seems so big it is hard to know where to start. The focus of my work is to meet the client where he/she is at and help identify steps for change. I use a variety of cognitive and sensory techniques to help clients break out of old patterns and cope with the stressors of life.

I love to work with clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, who they are, and how they connect with the world. Society is a complicated thing, and it didn't come with a manual, but we can work together to to learn, or decide, what it will be for you. Clients who find themselves in my office may have concerns about their relationships, about whether or not they're worthy as people, about how their mind works, or might just have questions about what it means to be a person. I see adults, teenagers, individuals, and couples. Occasionally I run groups.

Life is the culmination of each moment, hard or beautiful, as it attempts to redefine our purposes, meanings, stories, and personhood. Unfortunately, it our most painful encounters that can leave us feeling confused, angry, and grieved. Whether you are dealing with struggles in the present, grappling with trials from your past, or just looking for a safe space to process and grow, you are more than the pain you have endured, and Healing. Is. Possible. If this story feels all too familiar for you, I understand, and I am glad you are here.

It takes courage to walk in and sit down with someone to share your story. An honest story that includes stress, anxieties, sadness, grief, and emotional suffering. My intention as a therapist is to create a safe and inclusive space for clients. This space allows individuals to open up and be present with the emotions, thoughts, and feelings that make up the human experience. I currently specialize in working with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, and relationship issues.

The clients I serve are often at a crossroads in their life story and unsure of how to close one chapter and begin anew. Clients I enjoy working with recognize that counseling continues outside of the session in self reflection, exploring behavior change, and shifting how we think and relate to ourselves. I find that counseling helps meet goals and needs as diverse as the client, and sometimes goals arise throughout the course of the relationship. No one needs a "good reason" to come to counseling, for the desire to reach out and try will always be sufficient.

My counseling theory combines a family systems view with an emotion focused therapy approach.
Over half of my work is with couples. Through training and supervision in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), I can see and hear needs and feelings long hidden for fear of being hurt again. I empathize and acknowledge real wrongs and real emotional damage to trust and respect. I hear both sides. I also offer hope. I can see when marital conflict itself offers evidence that partners still desire and need each other. I know how difficult a process forgiveness and then trust building really are. Slowly, when even one is ready to love again, I equip both to express their hearts with a gentle strength, and to hear with compassion.

My approach is grounded in attachment theory, yet I also integrate family systems work, interpersonal processing, trauma-based practices, and emotional regulation skills.
In a world marked by brokenness, counseling provides space for us to confront our experiences with safety and support. Many things in life can throw us off balance. My goal is to help you navigate these challenges, fostering new ways of relating and flourishing. As a counselor, I aim to create an environment where you can find your footing, feel secure, and be embraced for who you truly are. I believe that genuine change occurs when we reconnect with ourselves and build safe, meaningful relationships with others. Whether you're experiencing joy or struggling, my commitment is to meet you exactly where you are.

I primarily use EMDR, Family Systems, Feminist, Attachment, and Polyvagal Theories to help my clients.
I work with individuals who struggle with trauma, relationship problems, and not taking care of oneself first. Trauma is anything that felt too big to handle at the time and continues to come back to haunt you today. This means trauma can come from many different life experiences. I find that many of my clients have attachment and relationship trauma that continues to affect their present day relationships. We will spend time healing your wounds to help you grow into the person you wish to be, with a stronger sense of safety within yourself, your relationships, and the world you live in.

It's plain to see that world bombards us with ample reason to live in fear, doubt, and negativity. Yet, we all possess the ability to change, and to make good on the hope toward a rich, full, and confident life. We can't erase our pasts, but we can work together in the present to find new ways of thinking and being that produce the lives we want.

Perhaps you're in a relationship, family, or job where you feel like everything is always your fault. You're made to feel like you're not good enough; that you have to try harder despite the other person never taking accountability. You have difficulty expressing yourself for fear of the other person throwing it back in your face. Perhaps this mounting pressure from those relationships has made you give up, anxious, or just feel stuck. You don't know who you are anymore—you’ve been told how to think and feel. You may feel like you’re in a fog or just don’t know how to get back on track to the way things used to be.

I like to work with people who are internally motivated to learn and grow and desire to live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Whatever challenges they are facing I want them to know that working with me will at some point mean paying attention to and allowing themselves to feel their feelings. A conscious relationship with self is had through attending to the feelings we have about ourselves. Understanding feelings will be essential in generating improved self-awareness and a sense of personal integrity.

Family Systems Therapists
Family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family.
